This is my all time favorite article. Not only do I keep the issue handy, but I also printed it using the link and keep it by my spray booth for reference and have consulted it many times.
Dave, why not make this one a sticky?
Great idea dave.
[:D]Well, this is my first post ever! But I wanted to say, nice article. I am about to buy an airbrush and have learned more about airbrushes from the forums than from anywhere else…i.e. never buy an Aztec…I just wanted to say thanks!
Bruce
Thanks for the reference. I just bought my first air brush today!!
Good on you David, thats a good start I just bought a new air brush today a Badger 360 and a delta comp
Thanks David!
I really wish that I could read the print, however I did save it
I’ve never used an air brush in my life. I want to an F-16C for my son who’s a zoomie. I’ve heard Hasegawa has a nice 1/48 kit. Still, painting is the key. Where do I start? Any recommendations for a warmup kit and paint job?
Hey guys.
David, thanks for the link [tup] it’s a great article. It will be very helpfull as soon as i get finished the air compressor i’m building and start using my Paasche.
Raudel.
Thanks for the artical. This is a big help, and very much appreciated.
thanks for the article!
the only questions i have are regarding paint types. what are the pros and cons of enamels (which i currently use) vs. acrylics. does the use of Future (which i am just now learning about too) dictate what type of paints i can use? can i use both acrylics and enamels interchangeably on the same model ( i do understand the solvents are different and all that, but once one is dried, can i paint another over it?)
i guess thats a mouthful, i am just a bit overwhelmed as i get back into this and there is so much to more to learn now.
Thanks a billion, im a young modeler (16) and I finally got my first aribrush so I need some good tips on how to use the bloody thing.
I am interesting about ABCs of airbrushing .[:)][tup]
How about keeping this as a sticky. I think it’s a great resource for new airbrushers and veterans as well.

Too bad I can’t seem to bring up the article anymore, I would have liked to have read it. And yes I know its an old thread, but I was still hoping.
Hope no longer! Here is a link to the article!
Thanks Bill, great article and definately worth waiting for, although I must admit I wish I had read it about 20 years ago !
Over the years, FSM has published many useful articles on airbrushing. I have a 16-pages booklet that came as a supplement to the magazine and titled “Basics of Airbrushing Models”. I don’t remember what issue of FSM it came with, the copyright date is 2005 and also said that based on a 2001 publication of the same title. I found this collection very useful, but never saw it available on the FSM web site.
Inside, it has the following articles:
I hope that Matt Usher will make it available again. Anybody else has this booklet?
