I’m looking at getting this AB. I’m new to AB and would like to know if it will spray a fine line or if I need to get a .2mm or a bigger cup (I do AFV’s and figs).

Why don’t you check out this thread on the Airbrush.com forum. Somebody asked pretty much the same question. Remember, these people are artists, not modelers.

Master airbrushes may be OK. I don’t know. I’ve never even seen one. But I do know the Patriot is a nice brush, and Badger support can’t be beat.

No beating Badger’s customer support and service! Something breaks, they fix it. Often for no charge other than shipping them the airbrush.

It is a cheaper knock-off of the Iwata design. The vendor TCP Global has a good reputation and sells a wide range of name brands and house brand airbrush and compressors. In general, the users seem to agree that the products are good values for the money and TCP backs up what they sell. Here is a post on their G-44 airbrush. There are many cheap knock-offs on the market. The Master airbrush may be one of the few that you can get your money’s worth.

The airbrushtech is a reliable forum because it is not affliliated with any particular brand. The posts seem to be knowledgeable and unbiased.

The Master G23 may be a good airbrush if you are not sure about getting into airbrushing for the long run. If you already know that you will use an airbrush for modeling in the long run, you will be better off getting an Iwata from the beginning.

I think that the parts are decent except for the needle. So one should consider putting in an Iwata needle.

So the Iwata needle fits the Master airbrush?

Brickshooter, do you know if it is possible? I thought that they make the needle with different diameter to avoid the copy right or other legal issues. All my knock-offs use different diameter needles than the Iwata.

I was talking to a guy over at Coast Airbrush and he said that Iwata needles fit in many knockoffs, legal or not. Makes sense since if one is going to copy an airbrush, why not copy the needle?

If brushes are made in China, then there is no patent issue since China doesn’t really enforce what little patent laws they have.

But to be 100% sure, I guess one has to try it.

… So who wants to be the brave one?

BTW, the reason I brought up the needle issue is that the needle is the one area where knockoff mfg. aren’t able to duplicate. Well they are. But the sensitivity of the needle requires a higher quality control. And quality control is lower on the priority list when it comes to mass manufacturing of knockoffs.

Don’t bother with the PowerCat brand knock-off. I have two and they are good value for the money. But the needle is smaller than the Iwata Eclipse needles in diameter. Yes, I measured them with a 3-digit caliper from HF.

TPC global on ebay? I’ve seen some of the stuff they sell. One of them was a really nice set of six airbrushes in different colours. I just wonder what the quality of these is like.

Come on people! Don’t buy crap when you can get reliable quality for a good price from Badger. [8-)]
