This past Sunday I took a trip to the hobby store WITH MY WIFE !!!I told her that I only wanted to look, not to buy . Well after an hour ride we pulled up to a three story, converted factory building that was built in1888. . This place had EVERYTHING!! From A-Z and every thing in between.. Since I was just looking, I started to browse. .
I ended up purchasing Tamiya’s quad gun tractor AND Academy’s panzerkampfwagen IV. My wife took it fairly well, ok maybe not so well . This place is so cool. If yer ever in Connecticut, look up Time Machine Hobby in Manchester, You wont be disappointed !! When we left I took my wife out for some dinner and drinks. When we left the restaurant all was forgiven. I can’t wait to finish what I’m working on (2cm Flak 38) and start the Panzer IV.OK this took me about a half hour to post. I think all the smileysare out of my system. Keep modeling and keep a sense of humor. One other thing, if your still in the forums, check out Recipe For Disaster, what a build and you will learn lots of new techniques from a (in my opinion) master. Stay true!!!
I have to admit, it’s a little hard to decipher your post with all the smilies. Congrats though on finding a full-fledged HS. They’re a dieing breed. I only know of a couple in my area and they really lack on AM stuff.
True, hobby shops are vanishing rapidly. I can remember half a dozen or so in my immediate area. There are now very few.

Guys, Disastermaster does pretty much the same thing with his posts,and they are very entertaining,so I have no problem following along with Chazzer’s post,if it bothered me then i wouldn’t read it.
I always go to the LHS where every I travel and have found as a quick run down
Time Machine is a pretty good place and I ways leave with a lighter wallet when I am in the area.
I also like the Hobby Depot in Tempe AZ, they have more AM stuff and very friendly staff.
CRM in St Louis has about the most stuff I have ever seen in a hobby store, but it does look a little like a hoarders paradise when you first walk in. You have to dig to find it but most cases they have it.
Soon enough there will be none. For those of us seriously into this hobby the savings online would be absurd to ignore. My LHS has the 1/72 Hermann Marwede for $114 and I get it delivered to my door for $72. That’s one kit.
Tamiya 3/4 oz paint is one whole dollar cheaper per jar online.
I could go on and on but you get the picture…the price difference is too extreme…end of year I have hundreds if not more than a thousand more in my bank acct.

Like I said earlier, the store is amazing, has three stories, the first level is downstairs and features war games,, the ground level floor has all kinds of models in lots of scales from armorto ships,to aircraft and lots of civilian stuff too (cars, airliners etc…)loads of conversion kits, figures, paints, air brushes, brushes, etc, etc…
and I could go on and on! The top floor is pretty much dedicated to trains and everything that goes with them including working layouts, so cool Check it out if your ever in the area. Its worth it!! Time Machine is pretty impressive, but unfortunately, it is pretty much the only show in town for this part of CT. I say unfortunately because, even though they have a pretty wide selection, their prices are PREMIUM. It is frustrating to see a kit that has sat on the same shelf for the past two or three years gathering dust because it is priced $10 - $20 more than at an online shop. I do like to support my brick and mortar shop, but sometimes their prices are just too steep.
That being said, I usually stop in there a couple times a month (I teach down the road) and will typically pick up some glue or paint.
Truth be told, I get the sense the store puts more energy into the RC and the model railroads than to the models.
Still, despite its shortcomings, it is a cool place to visit.

I took another ride, alone this time to a different hobby store today in Milford Connecticut (the address is394 New Haven Ave, the phone # is203-882-1979) called HQ Hobbies. A bit small but packed with models.The shelves are literally packed from floor to ceiling. Now once again I was there "just to look".This shop had so many models Lots of scales,cars , aircraft,armor, figures,paint etc,etc…all crammed into every space available. No model boxes are crushed or damaged despite the tight space! The owner and customers are fantastic, helpful and friendly. They took the time to answer any questions I had.Lets just say I picked up a couple, two, three things…I think I’m gonna be in trouble..When I got home I tried to sneak in, however da boss was waiting.Theand the fan was on high. I guess ya could say I was in the sierra hotel India tango tango echo romeo.Well I made some dinner for her and we made up.It sounds easier than it was but things worked out and I beefed up my new stash of armor to 5 models.In all seriousness, if your in town check out HQ Hobbies in Milford, Ct., you wont be disappointed!!
