During the past month I’ve created 4 Photo Albums on Facebook covering my military model collection. They may stimulate modelers to buy more and build more models, and let the collection grow.:
You’re welcome and thanks for your comments. Shopping is not possible, my collection is for your eyes only, not for sale. Come to Thailand some day and see it in the flesh!
Wow, what a collection! I was feeling overwhelmed because I have four unbuilt kits laying beside my desk. I’m nowhere near your backlog! Nice collection indeed.
Pretty awesome,I have seen a lot of the builds that you post here and it is some nice stuff.Do you build yourself or collect others work for your enjoyment,I’m not clear from your many postings.
But whoever builds them, they are really impressive.
Yup, all bought works, nothing built by him. He comes on to show them off and is looking for everyone to tell him how great they are and how awesome his house is, etc… He is nothing more than a collector with a large amount of mediocre models that were not built by him. Don’t encourage him.
Mopar - Thanks for your kind comments. Build your 4 kits and buy more.
Tojo72 - Thanks for your kind comments and inquisition. In short, I’m a modeler turned collector because I want the best of both worlds for my collection - quantity and quality. I built everything myself from the beginning - from warplanes to armors to warships; the biggest piece I built was Yamato 1:350,
until about 15 years ago that I began contracted out modeling services and stopped building by myself due to said reason. Still my build accounts for 15-20% of my collection, but they’re mostly at back rows on high shelves and low shelves, not much seen. Right now I have 6 talented, award-winning modelers working on clearing my stash. I still buy a little bit, lately a third “Terminator” but this time from Zvezda.
Here are some proof of my own works:
Beginning (1st model pic showing my collection at the beginning, taken in 1968):
Bragging is one of the most negative attitudes a human being can possess, imo. Calling his collection and home like “unlike anywhere in the World” is nothing short of bigotry. If you want to thank him be my guest, I will not feed that kind of egos. And yes I have seen bigger collections build by the owner…that is something to really be proud of. Im out of this thread.
Well, I feel bound to remind you all that “Model Maniac” bashing isn’t exactly rocket science either. It gets old.
He’s got a couple of builders who actually are pretty good, problem is they get handed kits at random, under deadlines and have no idea what they are building.
Scarecrow Joe - relax man, we weren’t taking it as bragging. My post was merely a in a light-hearted way in joking. Don’t take things too seriously. Re-read your post. You say you 've seen “bigger collections by another owner”. Well, that is bragging there and you don’t seem too impressed with Model Maniac’s collection.
I didn’t feel that Model Maniac was bragging about his collection but is sharing photos of his stash.
BlackSheepTwoOneFour - You’re welcome! Thanks for your kind comments and understanding. Subject lines, like newspapers’ head lines, need to be enticing. On two other sites I used “A Tour of My Home - I Live in What?”. I knew I can’t please everyone, but I think that these days some people sadly lack netiquette. I for one, if I don’t have something good to say about someone or something, I keep my mouth shut. That’s the netiquette that I hold tight!
GMorrison - Thanks for your kind comments on the first paragraph. But you have some misunderstandings on the second one. All 6 artists have certain line or pattern of work. “AI” for armors and dioramas, “PJ” for figures, vignettes, pick-ups and motorbikes, “Joh” for figures and vignettes, “Artama”, “Nipon” and “Tum” for warplanes and warships. More importantly, there is NO dead lines for any of them. They may take as much time as they please, for I can wait. “Tum” hasn’t turned up almost two years now (working on Hasegawa’s USS Gambier Bay + 3 Up-grade sets) and I’ve never called him.
How do you keep them dry and safe in event of typhoons and torrential rain seasons? Man, I’d do anything to see them in person… and try a little Thai food too! LOL!
Typhoons usually lash the Philippines, and when they make landing they land on Vietnam & China, not Thailand. In 2011 Thailand had a big flood affecting 60-70% of the country and many parts of Bangkok, but luckily my house is in the part not affected at all by the flood. My showroom, however, is not waterproof. Many times after heavy rainfalls, rain water made its way into the showroom and the restroom, onto the display cases and the floor. My brother checked the ceiling tiles and found no leakage. Still rain water finds its way in, though not every time.
Save up your money, buy low-cost air ticket and come to Thailand some day. I’ll treat you with Thai food & Chinese food!
I figured you farmed stuff out . I say So What ? You love models and certainly live up to your chosen screen persona . Now that said , you have mentioned water . Everyone knows water will find it’s way in, always ! Ask anyone that has ever lived on a fiberglass , wood or steel houseboat !
With the size of your collection , when I kick the bucket I will have to come and hang around your place . Just think All those models , the smell of good food and no time limit ! LOL.You have a nice day , Okay ? Tanker - Builder
