This build was done a few years ago and I wanted to dust it off… So I decided to use my New toy that Santa brought me… A cool Digital Camera!!
Anywho, this is Revell of Germany 72nd scale P-47. Its basically OOB except for the MG barrels and the Aires dropped elevators and yes I pushed the control stick forward…
One of the shows that I entered the 47 in recieved “Best Axis a/c” Go figure…
The decals are AM mix of what ever I could find… Well here she is… Hope you like and comments welcomed!!
PS, there is some minor battle damage due to my cat “Rudder” , she thought it was gonna get her…!! Laughs
Nice job. I like the slight color variations on certain panels (on this one and on the Wildcat in your other post). Did you open up the cowl flaps yourself - or does the kit come like that ? Either way - looks good.
It is a very nice build indeed, however somhow it does not seem to be right [:(!] a nice equipment, a great american aircraft in “bandits” markings - hmmm… not a cool thing [:D] but it is my personal opinion.
Nice work butz, like the others said the finish and weathering is excellent. it can be difficult to do in 1/72 scale, not to mention yellow. I like the non standered marking and unpainted canopy. Good looking jug.
Thank you for the kind words fellas… This was somethin different and I went for it!!
Chris,
I had to cut the cowl flaps open… Unforunetaly they are molded close… This was very tedace work and a pain at times…
Rick,
I figured I’d tale some flak on this build… Some of the guys at the LHS were chatting about American ships in foreign/enemy hands… So it got me thinking!!
I to like the over all finish. I used a mixture of pastels and a wash to bring out the various panels and lines…
Now Ed,
A Warhawk in German markings… that is well just wrong… Laughs But I bet she looked sweet non the less!!
Hey Greg,
I promise you the next Jug I do will be in her own markings!![:P] Glad that you liked her…
