Has anyone ever tried to start a group build where the group builds the same model?? Im not talking about the same thing different brands I mean the same brand same subject?? Might be a great way for the better modelers to teach there skillls to the lesser modelers.
I didnt have anything in mind. I was just wondering if that might be a good way to teach. I myself am wanting to start building learning armor in winter time but Im sure there alot of other things out there.
Some other questions come to me if this GB is to be used as a tutorial, of sorts: will AM products be allowed? Scratchbuilding of extra features?
If for those just getting back, I might move towards an OOB rule. However, if it is decided that it is worthwhile to have some “exemplars” of what can be done with the selected kit, maybe some latitude should be considered so beginners can see what their skills can aspire to?
At the moment, I’m agnostic on these issues, just putting some items up for discussion.
I think your right it would be a great way to teach and i think that the only problem you might have is the subject. Most of my life Ive built Race cars but i really want to learn ARMOR AND FIGURES, So i guess what we would have to do is see if there are enough people that might want to teach and learn. I guess we need to see who would want in on this? that is if this is something people might want to try??
Just a thought, but it seems like this could be a whole series of builds with different techniques. Some would focus on one kit others on a technique. Seems to me weathering armor for a winter scene it doesn’t matter what kit you use, since you are learning a weathering technique for armor, on the other hand learning some basic techniques for correcting kit errors would require the same kit for all.
I like the idea though, there are many areas I could use help with and 1 or 2 I could probably help others with.
Thats also a great idea instead of kit being the group build the armor in a winter theme is the build or even a desert theme. I like the idea Aaronw. I would think the Dragon armor kits would be the way to go because they have all those nifty P/E pieces in them and they seem to be priced well. I could be wrong???
