A sure top-seller...

Re-tooled PBY Catalina in 48th scale, ala an “Accurate Miniatures style” approach…

No pics? No link? You’re slacking…

Or is this simply a wishful statement?

Yes…

No?

Maybe…

That would be a top seller. I bet if one was released it would run for a lot of money to. Probably more than $100.

I would buy that kit…unless it was $229.

Not joking or anything, I think that is one beautiful A/C

[sml…]humm… what would I do with the 2 Monograms in my stash already ??.. huymm… but I would lurk…[whstl]

…if it was as detailed as their TBM/Frs...Id be in…as long as it cost less than $229.00 I think my wife would let me get one…[:D]

What was wrong with the old ones?

I enjoyed building mine and it even looks like a PBY!!!

Send them to me[:D]!!!

lol… sorry Fermis… !! no go… one’s a 5a Amphib… and the other is a 5… my son gave me one as a present, the other well… i dunno yet…and I have a -5 hanging in my office, my first, 1st Place. [:)]

Been years since I’ve seen what’s in the box of the old one—how is the interior detail??? Was looking through an old model mag today and saw what a guy did with the old Monogram Devastator—looked cherry in his Midway markings…[Y]

I’ve heard solid things about the Monogram. And there are a few detail sets and such out there to gussy it up, if you’re so inclined.

Now a 1/32 PBY…

You would need an actual airplane hanger to display it!

Why not go for the gusto and do it in 1/24 and sit it beside the Airfix Mossie?

Along those lines, this was posted over at Hyperscale today:

A scratch-built PBM in 1/32, truly outstanding work!

Aftermarket? For shame!

Some of you may remember seeing this build online a few years back:

This gentleman’s scratch-built interior is really amazing.

Yeah, the scratch-built interior was amazing … but at the end of the day, what was the point? You ended up not being able to see most of it!

If you have some of the windows (the type that open) and doors open you can see most of the interior accept the galley area and even that area has some small windows so if you put some lights in there you can see almost all of it.

As we scratchbuilders say, “The Lord and I know it’s there, that’s all that matters.” [:D]

Actually, that’s a difference of opinion that’s as old as modeling, I suppose.

i seem to recall FSM having at least one article singing the praises of the Monogram PBY…

Agreed. It is truly amazing to behold.

I’d still opt for the aftermarket, though, as my current scratchbuilding skills would make it look like the PBY interior was designed and installed by Elmo.

There’s nothing wrong with any of the three Revellogram Cats… The OA-10 kit has a few more “goodies” in it than the PBY-5A…

Another thing about 0A-10s, aside from a blue Army bird ,is the White Army Air Force paint scheme used by the USAAF squadrons in 1945… Build a “Black Cat” Navy PBY, and “White Cat” Army OA-10, sit ‘em side by side, and then ya got an eye-catchin’ display, I’ll tell ya…
