A Question on mud

Hi all,

For a returning modeller, can anyone give a way to re-create the wet smooth mud as seen on a river bank when the tide goes out?

I’m after building a diorama involving sailing ships and wish to create the mudbanks that can be seen at lowtide.

I don’t make dio’s but I would offer this,whatever you use for regular groundwork,just paint it a darker soil color and clear coat it with gloss coat
