a question for WWi a/c modelers:how to do rib tapes in 1/48 ?

when using decal material for wing rib tapes in 1/48,
do you use the material with the backing still attached
or just the decal film itself ?
sorry if this is a silly question, i’m building my first WWi model…

Off the paper Frosty. And make sure you have decal solution and a quality paint brush to hand when you do it.
