Better to start a new post than see this get lost in the mother post.

I am about to deck the America, but I cannot find ANY references to the pattern and plank length. If I can’t, then it doesn’t matter, but if any of you knowitall types have any info it would be much appreciated. Plank width is known, and the fact that they ran straight rather than sailboat style.

But no drawing I’ve seen shows the joint pattern. I’ve seen a few built models that have “every other” i.e. a 2 plank pattern, but I don’t think that would be right.

My current WAG is a three pattern, with a 15 foot length as the deck beams are spaced 30" apart.

OK so I spent a little work time looking at how-to articles on boat builder sites.

The rule of thumb sounds to be minimum every third plank on the same beam and minimum every third beam on the same plank.

My beams are 30" apart. If I go every sixth beam, that’s a 15 foot plank which should be a good size, every third plank per beam.
