I first saw this technique on fitchenfoo’s site. I have been wanting to try it. When I did, I put down the base coat, then coated it in hairspray then the main color. when I tried to rub the hairspray off with water it wouldnt come off. What did I do wrong?
What type of paint did you put over the hairspray? It works best with acrylics. Also, don’t let it dry too long. Dry to the touch but not fully cured. 20 minutes (ish). Did you spray the paint over the hairspray? Brushing it will disolve the HS and it will mix with the paint so what you are left with is nothing more than a 2nd coat of paint.
I ABed some enamel paint. I let it sit for a few hours then tried to wip eit off and it wouldnt come off.
Hi smeagol…if you have this month’s FSM (November)…there’s a step-by-step tutorial on how the doog used this technique on his Nomad Chevy…he used acrylics though…
my lhs doesnt sell acrylics, so I would have to go online to gettem… ugh
I feel your pain smeagol…the last remaining LHS in my city doesn’t really cater to modellers…if it isn’t RC, they don’t want to go out of their way to help a guy out…they won’t even order stuff in if I offer to pre-pay the purchase. So I’m now forced to go online as well…
Good luck with finding an answer to doing this technique with enamels…I’ll be keeping an eye on this thread, as I have a ga-jillion enamels compared to only a few dozen acrylics…although I’m trying to switch to the less smelly acrylics, it would be nice to use the enamels up instead of just letting them dry-out in their jars.
Cheers
besides grays and tans and green I have very little paint. Inorder to make a pink for what im building now, I had to spray a spray paint red into a AB bottle then mix white with it.
yup…you got to respect a fella that can adapt…lol…besides, I don’t know if I’d have enough courage to buy pink paint…lmao
Cheers
Its not that I dont have the courage to buy pink paint, I’d buy it in a second. But these are my choices. SUPER HOT NEON PINK. or spray paint made for cloth flowers. Thats it. I need a pastell(sp) pink, there are none so I make it.
That should be our motto, if you cant find it, make it.
