I pre-ordered this at GM a while back and the price was $35 (with a note that it may be adjusted). Well, I had wipw point out to me that it wasn’t that price in our pre-order account page…it was listed as $52.45. Just a heads up for those of you who weren’t expecting such a big price adjustment. At least me knowing now gives me a little time to make funeral arrangements (I can hear my wife now…“you spent WHAT on a plastic model?!?”)
Maybe GM will again change it. DragonUSA has it for $44

I read last night on the Dragon and another site, this is a very limited kit. That was only going to be sold in the far east in places like Hong Kong and Japan and so on at first and price might go as high as $70 bucks.
Maybe some other company will eventually come out with an AM conversion for the DAk and solve the limited run problem. Or maybe like the LAte Tiger, it will come down in price as Dragon realizes it is popular and makes more. Guess we just wait and see.
I still gotta get my Tiger I late, never mind spending even MORE money [:p]
Holy Bleep! I certainly hope Dragon doesn’t get into the “Tamiya price range”.
is that a whole kit? or do you need one of the tiger kits to make it work?
I’m curious about GM offering a preorder price for this kit. There was some discussion about this kit on other forums that it will only be available from dragonusaonline.com. After reading the announcement about the company makin the limited run edition of this kit, it seems as if it won’t be available at the LHS or from any other websites.
SNAFU again.

Well, let’s all hope the price gets re-adjusted down before shipping! I have 2 on -pre-order at GreatModels. At $50+ per kit I’ll probably only get 1.

OK, I am confused, here’s the info straight from the Dragon website. How are you gonna get one from Greatmodels boys?
There have been a number of threads recently, both here and on other sites, about the availabilty of DRA6286 Tiger I Initial DAK (3 in 1). Now in this news story, thanks to help from Dragon Models I am able to pass on the (definitive) information regarding availability…
Firstly and this is the most important aspect of all:
Despite, rumors to the contrary, the kit WON’T be available from any of the usual HOBBY STORES… The kit is only available from two sources:
Dragon USA ONLINE (U.S. CUSTOMERS ONLY)
Cyber-Hobby (European, Canadian, Asian & Australasian Customers)
The reason for this, is that it is a limited-run kit (only one production batch) and since many retailers feel it is a touch too ‘specialized’ they feel it is better to sell only the usual ‘production’ variants such as the Initial and the Late…
So, this is the definitive answer from Dragon - My thanks to DML for taking the time to explain the things to the membership of [censored]
Tell here that there was more metal in that kit than plastic[;)]
