One thing I’ve found in the year and a half that I’ve been back into modelling is that finishing models is hard for me. I get to a point where I’ve got to start doing the little fiddly bits (props, canopies, antennae) and I lose interest. So I end up with 95% complete kits that just need a night or two of work to finish them up.
Today, I finished two of them! These are only the second and third kits I’ve finished since I was a teenager.
Both 1/48 Hasegawa. Both have been stripped down and painted twice (still learning!) Both are Thunderbolts (OK, one is a Raiden, but that translates in Japanese to ‘Thunderbolt’)
The first one is a Hasegawa P-47D Bubbletop. The decals are Eaglestrike. I have to say, those tail stripes just about killed me! The metal finish is a mix of Tamiya Silver Leaf and Flat Aluminum spray
The second model is Hasegawa’s sweet J2M3 Raiden. The decals are a mix of kit and parts bin - I couldn’t replicate the decals that were supposed to be there entirely after they were stripped off, but I did my best. This model was a pleasure to put together (except for the wing tip light, which got launched into carpet-world!). This is the first model I’ve done completely with my airbrush.

Finishing next - 1/48 Academy P-38M and Tamiya BF-109E4/7…
Thanks for looking!
