hey guys today i was mucking around with paint colours, Anyhow know how german panzers were primed in red oxide primer i stumble accross a colour match by mixing tamiya paint hull red with a few drops on buff to lighten it and it came out in a close match to the red oxide primer the germans used, thought id share what i stumbled accross im goin to paint my early tiger one and king tiger in the morning and i’ll try and post so pics on how it comes out on my tigers so hope this is a help to someone out there .AZ[8]
I’ve heard other modelers using Hull Red, but not the part about adding some Buff to it.
On this Initial Tiger kit I’m in the middle of, I sprayed the interior of the radiator compartments with straight Hull Red and painted the radiator fans bronze. By the the time the grills, complete with screens, fit over the top you can barely see down below anyway.
Thanks for sharing!

Great tip PG thanks for passing it along.
Thanks for the tip, I think I saw some thing like that in Finescale a few mouths ago. I am building a Panther F and since it never went in to battle I think. I am going to give it a base coat of hull red and then little patchs of dark yellow to make it look like it is rushed to the front.
hey guys quick update painted my 2 tigers the other day and they come up sweet when i get so free time inbetween work and soccer training i’ll take some pics of my red oxided tiger ok guys
