Can casting be done resin to resin?
Probably, provided you use a good mold release. The problem would be getting the new piece out of the inflexible mold, unless it was a fairly simple piece with no re-entrants. But why do it that way?

OK, so I have this part that I want to vacuform. It is a piece that has window but the are solid gray plastic so I figured vacuform in clear, mask and paint. Voilà, clear windows.
I made a rubber mold and cast a perfect copy. Vacing the positive buck looses some of the fine detail on the outside. I want to try and vac a negative piece so the detailed surface is what is being vaced to. Can you mold rtv to rtv? That would solve the problem since I could them cast a resin negative.
Certainly you can mold RTV to RTV—that’s what you are doing when you make a two part mold. Just be sure to use a good mold release agent.
Of course… the same as a 2 part mold. Thanks Ross.
