A-Model Aero 145

Here’s a build I’ve been working on for a couple of months now. I haven’t posted to the forums for some time as I’ve got a steady job now. I mostly post pics of airliners and so my love of them has taken me to work for the airlines. Funny how life turns out.

Here’s the 1/72 scale A Model Aero 145. My first attempt at an Amodel kit which I’d heard are not very good. There was lots of flash and thick parts. I scratch built the cockpit using Sculpey modeling clay, an instrument panel from the spare parts box(it’s from an SR71!). I cut the control surfaces, and opened the door. I added small wire mesh inside the engine cowls( can’t really see them in the photo). The decals were very poor. I used a whole lotta Solveset. I also replaced the kit tires with some from the spare parts box and added brake lines from wire. The forward canopy is slighty larger than the cockpit area so it sort of hangs out over the edge. I finished the plane with Alclad Duralminum and highlighted th panels with a dark grey oil wash. Quite a challenging little kit but it came out pretty nicely. I hope you enjoy.

Excellent work Neil! I have never even heard of that aircraft, thanks for sharing it! [tup]

Very interesting airplane. I’ve not heard of it either.

You’ve done a dang good job on it too.
