How is it as a kit? Is it just the standard avenger with specific markings?
What is the color scheme for this plane? Tricolor?
I’m pretty sure it is the standard TBF/TBF kit from accurate miniatures with Decals for Bushes plane. It might have a few different parts to make the TBF-1c version, but apart from that, it would be the same kit as the other versions. It is a tri-colour Avenger with the blue surround insignias.
THis is a great kit that has decals for the Bush version (which I’ve built) and a New Zealand offering. The color scheme is tri-scheme for both, but with aftermarket decals you can build whatever you want.
Honestly speaking, this was the most enjoyable kit I’ve ever built…from the moment it arrived in the mail to this day, where it sits proudly on a display shelf. The wing fit is absolutly perfect.
But then again,mate - ANY Accurate Miniatures Avenger is a good thing…it’s really very hard to point out any defect in the kit - it’s just that good.
The cockpit isn’t as detailed as many aftermarket resin detail sets, but it’s better than just about any other quarter scale kit on the market - and everything fits - it just fits together like a Tamiya kit - no flash, no gaps, panel lines match, no need for sanding or putty. In short, it’s the best thing a modeller can ask for - a nearly perfect starting point.
Mate - have fun with it - I’ve got the TBM-3, and I’m having a great time.
I am in the process of completing this kit. The only problem I had with it was with the control panel. They included two clear control panels and neither fit, so I modified the one that was closest and proceeded. Hope to post pics soon.
