Well, this is what I managed to build last year…all for GBs. I was going to post it in the other thread but I couldn’t find it and its getting late! Back to work tomorrow![:(]
For dupe’s Winter Warriors GB - 1/35Dragon Panzer IV Ausf. G
For Redleg12’s Vintage Armor GB - 1/35Tamiya Panzer III Ausf. M
For Redleg12’s Vintage Armor GB - 1/35Tamiya Panzer II Ausf. F
For SMJmodeler’s Big Cats GB - 1/72 Dragon Jagdpanther (early)
Only 4, but since I actually started 6 last year, completing 2/3 isn’t so bad…at least for me!
BTW, the Pz. II I actually finished today, but it was 95% done in October…just couldn’t get to it for several weeks. This is the first free weekend I’ve had in 3 months!!
Very nice! I really like what you did with the old Tamiya Mk III and Mk II! All your builds are gret, but I really enjoy seeing these older kits made to look so good!
Those are magnificant Ernest. That Pz IV rocks. Did you do the hairspray method on it? That camo on the Pz III is just perfect. Love the finishes. Kudos my friend.
Beauties Ernest all of them, the camo on the pz III is wonderful i love it, also awesome job with the old pzII hard to beleive what you have done with it, great year.
Thanks everyone for all your comments! I appreciate all the kind words especially from such a talented group! Turns out my build tally this year exceeded both 2007 & 2006 when I completed only 3 each year, so 4 is an improvement! I think 2009 is going to be a banner year for me!
Happy building in 09 all!!
BTW Eric, didn’t use the hairspray method on the whitewash…just sponge chipping ala the “doog” method!!
Ernest, these are all stunning models, all very competently built, and gorgeously finished!
The thing that rankles me a little bit is–and I know I’m going to catch hell for this but it has to be said–is that I don’t really remember seeing these up on the Armor forums as completed builds? Once again, it’s sad how much talent and how many good models, great modelers, and potential WIPs that Group Builds take away from the Armor forum! [sigh]
Glad the sponge thing worked for you on the wheels–they look tremendous!
I am actually starting to see Doogs point here because i know i havent been around much the last little while a lot of these builds i am seeing in the 2008 reviews were actually done when i was around but i never saw because they wasnt posted here i would love to follow all these works of ernest’s and all the others, if the reason is you guys dont want to cross post in different forums i say dont worry about it and do it we really could use more WIP’s goin on its my favourite part of the forums [:)] (sorry to choose your thread for this ernest its Doogs fault he started it but its a free bump to the top so others may see your splendid work [:D])
Rbaer, doog, thanks so much for your kind comments! Its an awesome feeling to know that my efforts are appreciated to such a talented group!
doog, biffa, you’re correct, I never posted anything on these builds on the regular Armor forum, only in their respective GB threads. To be honest I just never thought about cross posting these. I suppose I just assumed anyone who wasn’t participating in a GB still visited them just to check things out…but apparently that’s not the case. Now you’ve got me thinking…
I’ll start a new thread on this subject in a little bit to see what people think about this.
