Does anyone know if the Tamiya individual track link set for a King Tiger will work on a Dragon King Tiger. The Dragon kit came with transport tracks and I would like to build it with the wider version of tracks. I really do not want to spend the money for Fruills. I bought the Hobby Boss tracks and I do not like the way they are. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Funny thing is, I think I used a set of Dragon tracks on a Tamiya KT from days of yore…it came out fine. I think I may have had to re-locate a few of the sprocket teeth, but it was easy to do by cutting them off and gluing them in where they should be after the tracks were fitted. Can’t say if it would work the other way around, but I would assume that the work involved would be minimal?
Good call on wasting money on those Friuls. I can’t justify the cost of those metal tracks either!

The kit actually has two different sets of drive sprockets. I bet one of them will line up just fine. IIRC one has 9 teeth and the one has 12 or something like that. Once it is together the vast majority of the people won’t know if the sprocket is the right one or not. Of course I will have to hide it from the people on this forum!
Be aware that there were two track types. The 9 tooth sprocket is for the double-link tracks and the 18-tooth for the later single-link track (and, I believe, the transport tracks)

The thing is, I would never call anyone out over something like that. If there’s anything I’ve seen regarding German armor that seems to be the rule, it’s that “inconsistent” is the only consistency thing in terms of “correct” parts that you’ll find. Especially with sprocket and running gear type stuff. There’s always exceptions, one-offs, and the oddball conversion you run across. I say “Happy Modeling” and just have fun making the best model you can. 
Doog is right. Towards the end of the war the Germans were using what ever they had in stock. This lead to later tanks getting older parts. The factories tended to get a batch of parts. Like turrets and such. They would then use this batch till they were out.
As for the 18 tooth track it is the late war track. The transport track for the Tiger II is the same as the Panther. Like was said before just check what track you are going to use. If you have the 18 tooth sprocket and have the 9 tooth track just trim off everyother tooth.

I am not worried about people pointing out stuff like the wrong sprocket. I model to make myself happy, although I do try to be accurate as possible. I am not a rivet counter. If it looks like a King Tiger or a Sherman then that is good enough for me. I am just amazed the amount of information people are able share. Thanks for all the input everyone.
To answer my own question, Tamiya tracks will fit the King Tiger. The tracks fit the 9 tooth sprocket. I started putting the tracks together today.
