A Good Day at BayCon(PICS)

Myself ,Al LaFleche and Jadgpanther302 (aka Paul) attended the BayCon 08 show yeasterday. All three of us took home awards, Paul took a first in juniors with his Kubelwagon[tup]. I took a few pics mostly of armor but I managed to get some other stuff also. I did take one just for Manny though[:-^]

The best part of the day for me was the raffle. I bought ten dollars in tickets and this is what I got for my ten bucks.

I also snagged this guy for 20$[:D].

Heres the link to some pics of the show http://photobucket.com/BayCon-08

A big thanks to the BayCon guys for putting on a great show.

WOW, man–I can’t BELIEVE that they let that first model there sit on display!?? That’s expressly prohibited by IPMS rules–er, uh, the “boobies”…[:O]

You really cleaned up on that raffle! WOW!

Congrats on your awards, and to the others who received recognition and “Wood”! Wood is GOOD! [:P]

The Bay Colony group has always been quite liberal in their interpretation of the rules. In fact, they once had a reputation for the presence of figures such as these and the old Phoenix Follies.

Further, what is fully banned is the depiction of genetalia as well as certain depictions of activities. The rule (dating from VA Beach in 02) that governs the Nats would have had this in a curtained off area. In the Journal last year, the Nats edition showed several figures in this level of exposure on the main tables.

Hey, congrats guys on some more awards! Wish I could have come to this one, but all that driving to Mass is killing me!

Steve - we both know you’re never going to build that Eduard FW-190…you should tell me what armor-related kit you’d like in trade for it. I mean, so I can give it to my, uhhhh, cousin to build. Yeah. Christmas present. For my cousin. [:-^]

Good for you. Thanks for the link.

Good show, thanks for the pics steve. One very old man had 26 entries. I thought that was a little extreme

Congrats guys. I’m not the least bit surprised that you guys scored some awards. FSM forum guys rock.

Congrats Steve and all the winnners. You should take dupes up on his offer. You? A butcher bird? Nah! All though… you could do a dio of the Fw after a dead stick in a field and the injured pilot being helped into a 234 or 251… Hmmm… Maybe I’ll do that[:D]

[:D] Joe McDonald, Sr. is one of the longtime members of the Bay Colony, possibly among the founders. He always brings a boatload of models. He, and his family, support the club in this way as well as sponsoring quite a few of the awards. Do you remember the announcer saying, “Sponsored by the McDonald family?” That’s his family.

Anyway, I hope you had a good time.

Lol, I had no clue that there was another “Joe” McDonald who built models…?? whooda thunk it?

Yeah, i had a good time, i thought it was funny when he won that award that said sponored by the Macdonald family.

Sheesh, you sponsor your own award[8D]

Thanks everyone for the comp’s [:D].

Doog while that pair of ummm…Blondes were a little risque they were done so well that people did’nt seem to mind.

Paul if you think twenty six is a lot one year Joe had over fifty entries !

Well Dupes I would’nt mind a Panzer IV H or J in the old stash[:-^]

It was my first baycon event and I enjoyed it alot. I am going to have to bring a load of my 1/72 scale armor to fill up the small scale section. I would have this time but i needed to be out by 1. I ended up spending to much money in the vendor section as expected. I cant wait for the next even which I think is in march.

PS Anyone get a video of the diorama of the picnic with the ambulance that rocked and made moaning/screaming noises. I though that wa more inapropriate that the topless figures.

Congrat Steve…looks like you cleaned up and had a lot of fun in the process.

With the way banks are failing…you earned a real good return on your 10 bucks.

Rounds Complete!!

Hmmmm…let me see what I can wrangle up. My cousin would be real excited…[(-D]

Anything else you’re looking for while I’m poking around the closet?

Glad everyone that went had fun, and hi Al, good to see you there.

Thanks for posting a link to the pics…I was working the club vendor table all day or judging, so I only saw what I was judging.(cars)

Just to clarify, Joe McDonald Sr. is in fact one of the founders of BCHMA, and has contributed more to our club and more to the hobby than anyone I can think of.

jadgpanther302, lots of club members sponsor categories(I myself sponsor two), and the fact that he won is cooincidence, nothing more.

As to what people think is appropriate\inappropriate…the tables where the models are displayed are up on “stilts” so no children can see anything they’re not supposed to, and the diorama referred to had ZERO visible nudity, and the sound was carefully controled remotely by the builder. I personally thought it was ingenious, and gut-busting funny, and it won the “most humerous” award.
