Much appreciated. Glad you liked the results.
Do you mind if I ask what kit of the Land Rover did you use and in what scale?
Thanks Tiking. I had forgotten about that kit. Iād like to look into getting that one. Iām hoping that Revell will someday issue a two door Land Rover in 1/24 scale.
Did not know Revell had a kit like this in 1:24. But theirs do not open, as I understand from your post. Am I correct in saying so?
There is an old 1981 release 1/24 scale Monogram kit #2279 for an 88 inch short wheelbase Series III. They generally sell for quite a bit when found, and there is one on the main E auction site now for cheap money. There is a good review and pics on Scalemates. It is a nice kit complete with engine.

Will you be getting that one?
Thanks siiirhd88! I donāt recall ever seeing that kit but the price may prohibit me from getting that one. Iāll just keep my fingers crossed for Revell or some other manufacturer to come out with a new kit.
You know, if you wouldnāt leave your models unattended, then nature wouldnāt take over.
Great diorama. I am very jealous of that ability. I canāt even make a simple one, let alone something that complex. Amazing.
Appreciate the response. It was not that hard to do, really.
I know very little (okay, nothing) about Land Rovers, but I just saw this kit pop up on my Instagram feed and recalled this thread. This must not be what youāre looking for, eh @MR_TOM_SCHRY?
Yes Toimi_Tom, thatās the kit thatās currently out(2 in the stash) Iām hoping for a 2 door short wheel based version to be released someday.
I doubt I will bid on the Monogram SIII on the E auction. I know I have one, and maybe two in the stash. There is a 1:1 scale SIII 109 just outside, and a SIIA 109 in the garage. The old Series Rovers are getting harder to find, but they are still out there.

I have used many of these as reference when I was building my model.
I didnāt take the first photo of the Series 1, or last underwater photo, but the other three photos are mine. The blue pickup and the two together are on the island of Grenada, the blue hardtop is in Pennsylvania.

Thanks to everyone for your support.
Great rust effect, the undergrowth is very realistic. Like the shopping cart and the photographer! Base fits the scene well.
Just a note. Its not rust as these were built using aluminium. It brown is just old age weathered dirt/debris stain over many years sitting in the open like that. Only certain areas, most likely the bumper or some other areaā¦
Thanks, good point. Also guess the body would have stayed intact, no rust holes.
The Birmabrite aluminum can corrode through where the aluminum is attached to the steel frames of the doors and bonnet. The firewall, called the bulkhead on a Series Rover is made of steel and will rust around the vent doors and on the vertical door pillars. The chassis is a steel box frame and can rust badly. I had to replace the chassis with galvanized replacements on all three of our Series Rovers.
