The idea for the Blitzbau is to complete the model to the best of your abilities within a 24 hour time period. I have to admit I bit off a bit more than I should with the Sunderland and rushed the canopy framing to finish in time and made a bit of a mess of it but it’s since been cleaned up ok.
A few details added to the rather sparse cockpit.
Another 24 hour build, Something a little easier this time
Next is last years Classic British Kits S.I.G table at Telford. the idea was to try recreate the Airfix 1977 catalogue cover pic in kit form.
one of mine off the table
and lastly my Matchbox Buccaneer, kit is oob painted with Xtracrylics, markings are from the spares box to represent one of the kit options later in it’s life, well at the end of it’s life really when whilst operating with 208 sqn it was lost when over stressed avoiding a mid air over Wales. Both crew banged out safely and the aircraft went into a lake.
Thats a nice lot of models you have there. I especially like the sunderland. Ive been looking for that sucker on ebay for a while now. To build it in 24hrs, wow.
Chers Guy. It was a tight one finishing it in 24 hours (and that included sleep time too) and I freely admit I really messed the canopy. If you get stuck for a Sunderland I may be able to source one for you. Please let me know if you are interested.
Very Impressive, I really like the display of the Airfix kits. What a Great Idea… Geeze you have probobly just put a “spike” in the ebay search engine for Sunderland’s. Im going to go unpack my box of Airfix kits in hope of having one [:-^] That is one neat looking Plane.
My stash looks like a bomb went off in it [sigh] Not a Sunderland to be found . But I did come across a Matchbox Super -Marine Stranraer that I put on the “To Build Shelf” [party]
gregers, not sure if you have these in your collection but I have the complete yrs for 1976 - . 1979. For 1980 I am missing March - July (?) If you need a reference or article copied from one of these I would be happy to share it.
Cheers Roy, I converted the Sunderland III to a MKV as one used in the Berlin Airlift, The sunderland was the only aircraft with enough corrosion proofing to be usable for carrying salt, strange eh?.
