A few more with my new camera!...

Well, I have been cleaning the house, and I have been taking pics of the models that I have done over the last year… Here are three pics of my Academy 1/32 F/A-18C that I did in Australian RAAF markings… It was originally built on its wheels, but I have since placed it on a stand, and need to finish the re-adjustment with it… To start, the landing gear doors have to be installed, and the pilots head needs to be changed to the in-flight pilot… One problem that Academy has with all its kits, no matter what scale, is the canope fit… And as it was landed, it used to be in the upright position, so now it needs to be fixed into place… Here are a few rough pics… I also decided to do it in the RAAF 3 Squadron markings… As an Australian, the Southern Cross means my heritage, and pride that even our American friends could never understand!

Please excuse the dust (especially the canope) as it has sat away while I was re-painting the entertainment room…

The Southern Cross of 3 Squadron… An Australian will always find his way home!..

I will be adding some other aircraft to this thread as I go… The next set of pics that I will do, are some clear shots of my Nakajima KI-43 II and my Zeke Zero…

Chris,
I love the Skip markings…very simple and attractive. I’ve seen them a number of times here in Melbourne at the Grand Prix…and at Avalon - along with the F-111 doing a fuel dump.
Good one, mate.

May I suggest, that since you acquired a new camera, buy some supplemental lighting and do away with the flash. You will have to use the manual settings on the camera however, but your photos will look light years better. You don’t have to spend alot, just 3 clamp on fixtures with 100 watt daylight bulbs will do. Try to light the model from 3 different angles. That’s a great looking jet btw.

Supllimental lighting is not necesarry, only a good tripod and a remote control or a timer, of course disable the flash on your camera than.

Chris, are you by any chance Australian ? [:)]

Dan… How did you guess?. ha ha ha…

As far as taking pictures and lighting. I am not looking for any awards, nor am I all that fussed about photography… I enjoy seeing what other people are building, have built, and so I just like to take a few pics, and show people what I have done… The fact that I didnt have a decent camera for so long, has made me want to re-take pics of some of my models…

Biscuite… I grew up next to, and even worked at Amberley Airforce Base, so I saw my fair share aswell… Parents still live there… They are an ugly looking set of Bugs, but thats all we got, so we have to be proud of them!
