I had the camera at home so I thought I would take a few pics of some of the models I have on my shelf (finished, not wingy-thingies and not partially destroyed by the children)
I have to include the link to my hosting site because fotopic only allows me to post thumbnails. Probably should get another hosting site, but I fear change
Nice stuff, Jason. Look terrific. You aren’t a died in the wool Tamiya fan or something are you?? (Of course, we all know you’ve strayed the path with the DML Tiger!!)
Glad you got a camera to get some posts up. Let’s see somemore!
Erik- I painted the tank OD green and weathered it, then I masked off the decals and misted it with white and then sprayed a few irregular patches of model master “camoflauge grey” which looks like a dirty white. On the verticle surfaces I used the airbrush in an up and down motion to try to get the look that it was washing off and down the hull/turret sides. After all that, I sprayed Tamiya smoke on the lower portions to replicate slushy water spraying up on it.
I-beam- funny you should say that- my 3 year old watched “Sherman vs. Tiger” on the Military Channel with me a few weeks back and now makes me keep them together on the shelf where she can see them.
Thanks. Better they come down for viewing than because my kid wants her My Pretty Pony to ride them (it happened. We had a talk and she claims her ponies don’t like my tanks anymore. I don’t know- I can’t trust miniature plastic horses.)
Jason,
You should be especially proud of that Sherman. I’ve always though that a subtle Winter scheme vs a total white-out scheme looks a lot more realistic becuase of the wear and tear those tanks must have gone through. I think you have nailed it perfectly. I’m thinking of a Winter scheme for my British Cromwell but have never done one yet and am a little hesistant. Seeing your Sherman may change my mind.
