ILYA MUROMETS Heavy Bomber - `1/72
This one is made in Ukraine. It looks to be well detailed, there are loads or components (haven’t got a clue how many… and the instructions are pretty good… But there are wires all over the place… Not sure how the bits will fit together but I’ll give it a go. Decals for Imperial Russia, Ukranian or Polish… Includes an interesting write up on the history of this plane.
AERO MB200 "LUFTWAFFE - 1/72
From Chekoslovakia… It has markings for Chec Airforce or Luftwaffe…This looks a bit on the primitive side. Not many parts and the instructions are a bit sparse… but then it might still build up into an interesting project… I’ve never built anything from the “Thousand Year Reicht” … A couple of questions ??? Can someone give me the Tamaiya paint numbers for the Luftwaffe Olive Green and the light blue on the underside ??? … I prefer working with acrylics…
Nice find. If you are wanting to paint with Tamayia you may have to mix to get the right colors. For the bottom you can try XF-23 wich should be close to RLM -65, sorry I am not help on the top RLM.
I think i’m going to have a go at the MB200 first… The Ilya Muromets looks like it might be a handfull and a long term job… I’ve seen some photos of other people’s build of this one and they are really good.
Well I’ve made a start on the MB.200 and my first impression is this is going to be a mission !!! … Decided to start on the engines and cowlings. Just spent an hour just cleaning up a few parts The moulding tool was either rubbish or worn out and there is loads of plastic everywhere it doesn’t need to be… and the parts for the engine cowling are not a very good fit… I think there might be some filler going on here… and this is going to take a while.
Well I’ve made a start… Here’s a photo of the engine components. The four parts of the wing engine mounts abosolutely were a rubbish fit, so out with the filler and some fine abbrasive… I’ve taken a look at the wings and after cleaning off all the ecess plastic the tops and bottoms don’t line up using the locating pins, so I’ve got rid of those and pretty much I can get them aligned… more filler !!!..
Haven’t decided yet on the final colour scheme/decals … The MB200 was used by France, Germany, Chechoslovakia, Romania… The Vichy French in Syria and apparently one was used in the Spanish Civil War by the Republicans.
