I’ve been working on the Monogram A-26 for some time now.I purchased the Eduard photoetch sheets for interior, exterior and bomb bay. This is my first try at this much photoetch but the Eduard parts have gone together very well so far.The kit itself seems to fit rather well for the age of it and I have encountered no major fit problems so far.
I still have lots more to do yet before I can seal it up but this is the progress so far.
I used Tamiya “smoke” to get the sooty look on everything and as you can see,I still need to hit it with clear flat to kill the shine.
All paints are acrylic with the exception of some metalizers for the gear.
Looks great. Can’t wait to see more in-progress photos. I’ve said it before on here, but the three frets for that A-26 kit, though at least ten years old, add up to some of the finest work Eduard ever did. What you get in the end is photoetched components, many of them made by folding a big piece of brass into 3D structures, that markedly add to the finished product. And everything fits.
PE bomb bays can be one of the most frustrating projects you can take on, but when finished, if you’ve done your work and the maker of the parts has done theirs, you’ll want to display it on a mirror, because it’s too impressive to hide. I’m right now trying to fit Eduard’s bomb bay for the Monogram B-25 into my AcMin B-25D and so far, it’s not requiring any cutting or shaping, though that good luck can’t possibly last. And, the doors are a perfect match for the AcMin B-25.

It does fit nice in the Invader[:)]I was starting to break a sweat thinking about tackling the bomb bay on the Invader but it went together very well and I was very pleased with the results.
It’s rather ironic that you would mention the B-25,I picked up all the frets for the Mitchel at the same time I got the ones for the Invader along with some stuff for a few other projects like the AcMin Avenger.
I pretty much finished the cocpit last night so I’m almost ready to seal it up.I’ll snap some more pics soon before I do.
Fantastic job on the interior portion. If the exterior comes out even half as good, you are going to have one fantastic model. Great work!

Thanks for all the replies everyone,I’m glad you all like it.
I was sitting looking at the cocpit last night and decided it needed something more.I noticed it was missing the large handle on the right side of the console.I assume it’s some kind of manual hydraulic pump(maybe Swanny could shed some light on that).I scratch built it and added it to the interior. That big red handle really adds some colour in there along with the stenciling I added.I think it’s done now but I better not sit and stare at it again or I’ll never stop adding something.
I also decided to add another little touch to give it some life so I cut the front gear apart and turned the front wheel slightly.
I’m really having fun with this one and decided to try some new things on it…I must say that this plane seems to just want to go together, rather surprising for the age of the kit.
Well I’ve been away from this for a while. Finally got a chance to get back at it and made some progress. At last I got everything closed up and cured all the seams. Here she is with her new black coat.I’ve added some weathering but had to stop.I found all the decals to be very transparent. Many of the small stencils simply vanished on the plane.I’ve tracked down an aftermarket set and will get back at it as soon as they arrive.
That’s lookin’ fine. I’ve got one o’ these with all the goodies, just itchin’ to go! Iyt’s at a great stage in the build, when the paint changes everything…
