A 10A Thunderbolt II

Here’s my first model in a verrrry long time. It was fun even though at times I wanted

to throw it against the wall. Comments and criticism are much appreciated. Any tips

or ideas of what I could have done better are more than welcome. Thanks for looking.

This is a Tamiya 1/48 Thunderbolt II…

I know how you feel been there done that, But she shure looks good man.

[#ditto]Several times.

Good looking hog. Keep plugging away. It’ll get easier.

Where did you get the decals? Looks like a 23rd TFW bird out of England AFB in Alexandria, La. way back in the early 90’s before the base closed up.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I definitly learned a lot already.

@Melgyver: Good eye. That’s the exact bird it’s supposed to be. The decals came with the kit.

I’ve heard that kit was a turd… Not what I’d choose for my 1st model back. You made it look really good! You also must have had some modeling skill awhile ago, you seem to have retained a lot. Now me on the other hand…

Thanks RadMax8! I really don’t have much experience. My dad and I used to put models together when I was a kid, but he did most of the grunt work. As far as the kit goes, I thought it was pretty good. Especially compared to the kits I’m putting together now.(Revelle) They’re probably just old kits but they seem a bit “cheap”. A more experienced modeler might disagree about the Tamiya kit, but I just kind of put it together the best I could. I’m not good enough to break out the putty and really make things fit perfectly. Which is why I tried not to get any shots too close up.[:D]

BTW - I’ve seen some of your models on here and I’d say you’re pretty good at it.[;)]

Sweet Job on the A-10

Bud

Very nice build. You did the old kit proud.

Regards, Rick

Hey guy,

Great job on the hog. Really looks good. But don’t be putting down ol’ Revellograms now. I have a soft spot in my heart for those old kits. You always seem to remember those builds. And for a good reason, you probably learned something new every time you built one.

As for your Tamiya, you did a really fine job.[tup][tup]

Thanks

Zip

Great looking Hog. It is a bit of a pain in the butt, that kit is. You did a really good job on it, thought!

Sorry about that Zip. Actually, after getting the paint on, I think the models are going to look pretty darn good. And, yes, those Revelles do bring back good memories. They are the kits my dad and I put together the most. At least, that was the only brand I remembered when I decided to start building again.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I’m planing on doing two more Warthogs in the not too distant future. One grey and one in the desert cammo with the warthog tusks.

Great looking hog… nice way to jump back in the pool[:D]

Looks good. I’ve been thinking of building one of those myself.

you did a wonderful job on a not so good model, im building the same model and right now i also feel like throwing against the wall

blake

Looks good. I’ve been wanting to do a “Devil’s Cross”, now i have the insipration

Great job on the Warthog…don’t wait so long between builds this time! I look forward to more of your work on these forums.
