A-10 people...

And I know there’s a few out there. Here’s something for ya.

Pretty nice. What sucks is I’ve already bought all the paints to do my Trumpeter A-10 in the “lizard” camo.

But still, that looks nice.

Dana

That would be pretty cool. Unfortunately, I couldn’t use them. (2 seater). Plus, I’m already doing mine in a theoretical OD Green. Thanks for sharing!

I live near two A-10 bases, one in MA and the one in CT where that plane comes from. I’m doing my Trumpeter A-10 in the MA markings as I live in the town where that base is. I just went to an open house at the CT base and didn’t see an A-10 painted like that though, just the basic schemes. I have pics of planes at both bases if anyone is interested.

by the way which of the following kits on A-10 would you recommend
Academy, Italeri, Revell-Monogram…I have traced these but i guess i can always e-order a better kit if available.

thyamis,
What scale are you interested in doing? Dana, myself, and a few others are working on the 1/32 Trumpeter offering. If you have the means and a little extra cash, I would recommend picking up this masterpiece. Puts all other kits to shame. If you don’t have the extra dinero, I’d probable go for the 1/48 Tamiya kit. Nothing against the others, but it is Tamiya…

ups sorry due to space 1/72 actually but if tamiya is that good…
Trumpter 1/32 must be really huge isnt it?

Mine measures about 2ft length, same wingspan. It is a beast, but does it ever look impressive once you get past the whole bad cockpit thing. (Trumpeter is notorious for bad cockpits with no detail. This kit exemplifies that concept)

True…but a nice resin kit fixes that problem. [:D]

I’m doing the Haswgawa 1/72 kit and it’s pretty good even though it has raised panel lines. The fit is pretty good for it’s age. I’d like to see the Academy kit as they’ve impressed me with other 1/72. I also haven’t seen the Italeri kit but all the Italeri kits I have are junk. I’d like to know someone’s opinion on the Academy kit. If it’s good I might get it to add to the Hasegawa.

plum1030,

Found this review of the Academy 1/72 kit. Looks pretty good.

Well I’ve done the 1/72 scale Monogram but it’s like the Hasegawa with raised panel lines but the later went together better without any filler putty but the interior was a little sparse for details(Decals) as for the Monograms raised detailed cockpit, as for the 1/48 scale it’s the Revellograms hands down until someone comes out with it in recessed panel lines but it’s the cats Meow for now, the 1/32 it’s the only one except for vacuformed is the Trumpeteers in which I heard great things about

Hey Plum,

I lived in Westfield up until 2001 when I moved down to Texas for Grad school. Sure do miss those A-10s coming over! Anyhow, do you have any idea when that commemorative scheme was worn on a 103rd bird? Last time I was at Bradley was last summer and I didn’t see any like that!

Demono 69: Thanks for the link to the review. I think I’ll try that kit.

Cobrahistorian: I was at both bases this summer and didn’t see an A-10 in any but the standard grey scheme.

I’m doing one now with the “lizard scheme” for the 104th and may do another in the grey scheme for the same squadron. Then do one for the 103rd. May seem like overkill but I like modeling planes I’ve seen. The final piece will be the Trumpeter in grey from the 104th. Marking current as of this summer. I have the old aeromaster which I’ll modify then make some of my own on the computer from pics I took.

The real trick is to actually do all of this.

Isn’t that always the case?
Good luck, and glad the link helped!
