Hello guys, I just wanted to let you know about the coolest model ever. I went to Oshkosh for a couple days (long story) and got to see a completely scratchbuilt P-51A. It was one of the coolest things I’ve evr seen. They had just completed it early June so it could take part in a movie, and they flew it to Oshkosh from Reno. It had a NMF with lime green wings when I saw it, but I heard from one of the guys who built it that it will be painted OD/NG like the WWII birds. I think that this is awesome! How many cases have you guys heard of someone building a WWII bird TO SPEC? They even restored a bunch of Allison engines, because they plan to have a small airforce of these birds! I know of the Me-262 scratch builts, any others?
Hey Radmax, yeah I was looking at that too, pretty awesome hey? What day were you there? I was their Tuesday and Friday and spent Wednesday on my boat on Lake Winnebago to watch the show from there. It was pretty awesome as we were directly under the warbird track and got some awesome pics.
ya mean this lil Jewl?? Very sweet in deed. Wonder if he filled in the seams?? Laughs

Flaps up, Mike
It belongs, I think, to Gerry Beck. It first flew on the 7th June and is the first of ten that are to be built. If you want one you will need to leave lots of room on the cheque for plenty of noughts and get a bigger airbrush. Check first if the local hobby shop has enough paint.
There is a new build Fw-190 in Germany and several more are planned. It is good to see that German rearmament is being taken seriously and the Allies will be prepared this time.
How do you even get on the waiting list for something like this??? I imagine you fork over the first coupla hundred-thou and hope that they stay is business this yours is done.
SWEET ! What movie are they going to use it in ?
Bud
It is a movie about the Reno Air Races, I don’t recall the title but I believe they said it would be out next spring.
A movie about the Reno Air Races? Cool! I used to go up there every year when I was going to school at Sac State.
Hey hey! That’s the one!!! Yeah that bird was awesome!!! I love the look of the A better than any other Mustang. I want to say the guy I talked to was either Gerry’s son or a very close friend. Gerry was busy looking for any manner of parts he could find. Big Suprise.
Man! I’ve often wondered why people didn’t do that more often- instead of restoring old birds, just build a new one!

Because occasionally they end up like the late lamented Jim Wright and his replica of the Hughes HI Racer, on which he spent around a million bucks.
You Guys are right, built by Gerry Beck and his VERY talented team in Whapaton,N.D. 38 miles from where I live. Seems they have parts for 6 aircraft. Next time I’m down there, which should be in the next couple of weeks, I’ll take a bunch of pics and post them. Thats Bob Odegards corsair in the pic, hangerd 15 miles from my house. Thev’e also built alot of P-51Ds, mostly from scracth. There both great people!
