8th Air Force P-51D

Finally it’s finished. This is the Tamiya kit titled P-51D 8th Air Force Aces. I used the aircraft of Col. John D. Landers CO of the 78th FG in its colorful livery "Big Beautiful Doll. This is OOB built with just the exhaust replaced by a Quickboost piece.

Great looking build. Its got a great finish, and those decals couldn’t have been easy.

Beautiful work!

Awesome.

I like both the paint job and the decals.

Well done.

Thanks. I was a bit apprehensive about the checkerboard decals as I have bad experiences with large decals but surprisingly, this Tamiya decals conformed well to the aircraft’s surface and responded well to decal setting solution.

Beautiful mustang Constructor. What did you paint her with?

Tamiya X-11.

Good evening Constructor,

You did a beautiful job on the over all build and I like the over all finish too!! I am so glad that Tamiya re-designed the canopy attachment points on the Stang as this is one of my favorite airplanes of WWII.

I built a few recent Tamiya kits and used the supplied decals and you know what, outside of being a little thick, they work very well and lay down nicely… It’s nice to see kit decals work just as good if not better than the AM line of decals…

Thank you for sharing!

Flaps up,

Mike
