I spent way too much time away from this place and it’s now time to correct this. I have kept building all this time, although at a slow pace. For those who remember seeing my W.I.P.'s in the past, you may recall that I never posted any finished product, with the exception of an old Panzerjager I. This is mainly because I stopped the process when reaching the painting stage… I love building, but generally lose all interest at that point. With the completion of my painting booth last Christmas and unfinished kits pilling up, it’s is now time to confront this side of the hobby with which I am not comfortable yet.
This is my 2nd build involving the use of PE, plastic card/rod and other scratch-built tidbits. I believe I began this build back in 2005, before I joined FSM and finished it sometimes in 2006. It also survived 3 moves more or less intact. This is a far cry from what I can now in terms of assembly, but, if I have to begging practicing my painting and finishing skills with something, it might as well be with a kit that I finished assembling a long time ago… Besides, I spent way to much time on this oldie to let it sit unfinished in a box… so here we go!

I did not correct flaws or mistakes I could notice when re-discovering this kit a few days ago, only fixed what little mishaps happened to it when moving. It would drive me nuts and would be never ending if I starting any corrections! [;)]
Jean-Michel, first welcome back and second thats a beautiful build, but maybe a new kit might give you a fresh start and wouldn’t bring back those old days. I know using an airbrush for the first time was a little intimidating, but I worked on scrap plastic and now I’m very comfortable with it. You obviously have the building down, it would be a shame not to finish them. Theres not a person here who hasn’t messed up a build with an airbrush, but most are repairable. Just Do It….How about more pics of other builds?
Excuse the ignorance, but I keep seeing WIP in posts. What does that reference? It is not in the glossary. Great pictures by the way. I’m a detail freak, but can’t match this.
Thanks Recon89! Exactly like Bish said, it stands for Work In Progress, although I picked up this almost kit again after 8 years, hence the “re” prefix. I normally like to begin my WIPs way earlier in the building stage, but it was way too late for that one. All you need to detail a kit is references, imagination, various material (wires, aluminum foil/plate, plastic card/rods) and superglue!
I also used a PE Set and Barrel from Eduard for this one, I think I forgot to mention earlier… [:$]
Jean-Michel!! Welcome back, its been while since we’ve seen your excellent work! I think I actually remember this one! Its hard to forget such detail work as you’ve shown here! I didn’t realize that you never posted any completed pics, but now that you mention it…GIT ER DONE!! LOL, just kidding!!

I never really left the place, I was mainly lurking from time to time.
I had a few set backs so far… I dropped the box used to shelter the kit during our last move, with the main component still in it. Lots of tiny parts everywhere… but nothing that can’t be fixed. Repairs will be a bit time consuming though.
I started the base coat on the surviving parts, only to have my squirrel cage fan blower quit in mid-session last night. I dismantled the paint booth today and found a tiny culprit… a loose set screw. A few hours and a few drops of Loctite later, the booth is back together and the blower works like new!!!
