88mm Finished pics

Hi all, here is my completed Tamiya 1/35 88mm Flak 36/37. It was a nice build. It had about 250 pieces and came witha crew and a motorcycle with rider. It was a fun build all in all. It didn’t come out great but I think it turned out OK. Comments and crits welcome. Well, here it is.

That kit was state of the art in it’s day and you’ve done a good job with it. The rectangular feet seem to be missing from the front and rear support arms. Also, the barrel should be slid as forward as it can go. That’s called “in battery” meaning it’s ready to be armed and fire again. When firing, the recoil of the shot would cause the barrel and the slide to jerk back but the recuperator operation (the cylinder above the barrel) would pull it back forward. Hope that makes sense

Thanks for the tip. I’ll fix the gun as soon as I have time.

As Roy stated, this kit was released when I was a teenager, and I’ve built it several times in the last 25 or 30 years. It was truly “state of the art” when conceived, and Tamiya basked in the glory of the kits innovation for years, subsequently releasing the prime mover SdKfz 7 as a companion kit. The first one I bought went for $17.00 USD, which was a HUGE amount of money in the day.

I recently built it again for nostalgic reasons, just prior to the Dragon releases. I still consider it to be a fine kit, although the molds are showing thier age. :

Your build lacks a few parts, and you might use the opportunity to improve the paint work.

After “making your bones” on the Tamiya, you might want to step up to the Dragon kits, they are excellent. I used the extra Flak 37 barrel and breech from the Dragon kit on the Tamiya build, and the transition was dimensionally flawless…a tribute to Tamiya San and our Shangai friends as well…
