88 flak

any ideas on painting the 88 flak? so far i painted it with a base coat of black, then with german gray. i overcoated that with german gray with a little bit of white and desert yellow. but it still looks really dark. any ideas on making it a little bit lighter? painting ideas anyone?

Just add some white to the gray and fill in to taste, like this:
