80 Years of the Mighty 8th GB

Hope you can find somthing frank. Nice pic there. Do you kow if they are doing anything next year to mark the anniversary.

I looked over their website and there doesn’t appear to be anything special scheduled for tomorrow. The museum has an ongoing series, “Target for Today” that willl be showing at 2:00 pm. “Target for Today” happens every Thursday at 2:00 pm.

I am thinking about a Thunderbolt or an F-82 for this group build.

Yeah, I’ll be in with a 1/48 P-51D in one of the 8th’s subordinate Figher Group markings.

Sounds god guys. An F-82 would be different. I’ll get you on the list.

Bish,

Here’s hoping I am in shape to join this GB come January. If everything goes okay, I’ve got a 1/48th Monogram B-24J on hand to enter.

On the other hand, I’ve been waiting for the Revell 1/32nd Late Model P-51D. It’s released, but so far hasn’t made it across the pond. In case it makes it soon after this GB starts, I’ll be doing it instead!

Well, I’m committed to this group build. I just ordered 8th Air Force F-82 decals for the Monogram kit. Fortunately I have two or three kits in the stash.

So I went rummaging through the closet looking for an F-82 kit to use for this group build. I opened the box to find a partially assembled model AND the Starfighter decals I ordered this morning. In the plastic bag is another F-82 kit I think I was going to use to build Tom Reilly’s XP-82 prototype.

Well of course I’m in, a 1/48 Monogram B-24 most likely.

Roster updated guys. Glad to have you all on board.

Sign me up if I can ever find, and afford a B-24 to build. It looks like only the 1/72 Hasagawa and Minicraft Js are the only ones on the market. The D thats available is an assebmly ship, which might be interesting.

Glad to have you on board Scott. I am trying to get another B-24D myself and i would prefer the Hase kits, but they are not cheap. I have built one of the assembly ships and have anotehr in the stash, and they are different. They do include everything you need to build an armed bomber so would just need decals if you wanted to take that option.

If the assembly kit comes with the armement, then I can go that route. I have more decal options with the D. But I did find an interest J to build. Decisions, decisions.

Count me in. I’ve got a 1/48 scale kit of a P-51D by ICM, depicting an aircraft from the 4th Fighter Group.

I’d like to enter a 1/72 Hasegawa P-47 please Bish. If the decals are ok it will be ‘Little Chief’ of the 56th F.G., 8th Air Force. There’s potentially more entries to come but my new policy is to get on top of one before I add any more.

Cheers

Tony

Welcome aboard guys. I’ll be getting the roster updated at the weekend.

Tony, if you have issues with the decals let me know. I have 2 of those kits in the stash and i have AM decals for both. If yours are no good i can send you both my sets over.

Bish, that is very kind of you, I’ll be sure to let you know. This is a great place to be.

Regards

Tony

I’m in with Temptation! a P-51D from the 362 FS, 357 FG. The 357th Fighter Group was the first P-51 Mustang Group in the Eighth Air Force, training with P-51D’s from November 1943 at Raydon, England and entering combat with them in February of the following year from their new base at Leiston.

I’ve got 2 Dragon kits in 1/32 scale. An early and a late tail. If I get ambitious I’ll use the other decals in the set and do Passion Wagon with the early tail

and if ambitious…

The Yoxford Boys, good choice Mongoose. I had not realised Dragon did P-51’s in that scale, will be fun to watch.

I would like to join in on this one.

Could you put me down for an 1/72 Academy P-51B.

Will do JB.
