78th th fighter group, 83rd fighter squadron question

Hi guys, i’ve tried to find info all over the net on this fighter squadron, but can’t find much. In particular i’m after the mustang flown by Col Fredlick C. Gray the aircraft was called ‘Mr ted III’ I’m under the impression that he was the squadron leader.
Can anyone help with any info on either this squadron, him, or pics of his aircraft.
I’m making the hasegawa 1/72 P-51-D big beautiful doll kit, and thought that i’d do both of the aircraft available in this kit as i have 2 mustang kitsets.
I know that the squadron was based at Duxford in England, and was previously flying Thunderbolts.
Anyway any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Alan

Lt. Frederick Gray flew the P-51D called ‘Mr Ted III’. serial number 46-3275 and fuselage code HL*Z. Here’s a good colour pic of his aircraft:
