69 nova custom help

Can I get a little help please.

I’m working on a 69 nova, and looking to do a custom exhaust system. I’m not sure if I want to dump the exhaust out the side’s or run it straight out the back, either way I want the exhaust to be a little thicker then the stock exhaust.

Any help or ideas, on pipe size, or mounting would be great.

Thanks

Bob

Although I’ve never tried, it some people use plumbing solder.

Smooth it out straight and it will bend easy enough.

Check out the Scale Auto form for a lot more help.

Are you concerned only with the pipes, or the manifold/headers too?

For pipes I frequently use 1/8 aluminum tubing (K&S from the hobby shop). This represents 3 inch pipes, bigger than normal stock exhaust. I usually use this on race cars, but seems to me it would be appropriate on a custom or street machine also.

The stuff is devilish to bend without kinking, but can be done with care. It can also be polished to a chrome-like finish. I use Mothers Aluminum Polish from auto parts store.
