I ended my 15 years on Scale autos with a 79 Dodge Omni…I had to rectify this tragic ending by starting here with something abit more interesting.
This is R&R’s old 67 Bonneville wagon. For one of his early kits, it wasn’t a bad job. I had to redo the side window frames. Not much else to say. The wheels were Modelhaus… As always with resin models on the slightly cheaper end, the window was a dreadful fit. But I managed to sort it.

Now that is what was known as a “Land Yacht”. My '70 Plymouth wagon wasn’t that long and it was a monster.

Ah, the late 60’s and early 70’s, when dinosaurs roamed the earth. My parents had a 72 Mercury Montego station wagon and even it wasn’t that big.

Kids now don’t even know what a “station wagon” was! Did it have one of those bench seats that faced backwards?
I owned one of those in the later 70’s in all black. Bought it at a local junk yard before they got to stripping it. It was there I believe thinking the engine was shot, what it was really was a broken push rod and a couple others mushroomed out ( the 400cid did that sometimes). So off to the parts store for a set of pushrods and valve cover gaskets, got that valve train running right, rebuilt trhe carb and we drove that car for a few years, camping with the kids etc. Wasn’t my wifes favorite, that was the 67 Country Squire with the two way tail gate, she loved that one. Then of course her Volvo 140 series sedans and the six cylinder versions too.

What ya bitchin about folks? It’s one humongous " Land cruiser of the First rate " Big as a Battleship and could carry my car with ease.( There’s room enough on the roof.) Plus all my neighbors kids. All seven of them! Beautiful Job on that car and it’s a real treat to see one in model form!!

I really like seeing builds like this as it’s something interesting and not very often seen in the modeling world. Most of the times it’s sports cars of some sort but you’ve really given us quite a show with this out of the ordinary beauty.
