They are pretty nice and make for quick and easy work. They dry almost instantly which is good and can be bad, if you are trying to blend colors. I like them, but if you want better info than what i can provide there are plenty of reviews on youtube, search Sharpie Creative Acrylic Markers.
Today’s work was centered on the Plymouth front end. Have it pretty well in hand, I think.
Trying out an idea for the front seat, using paper towels glued to the front seat. We will see how it works out.
Looking forward to Friday.
Worked on the DeSoto Firedome engine. Painted the block red and the transmission silver using Vallejo paints. Added some of the chrome parts.
Also painted the headers for the 289 a nice white.
Going to bring the Plymouth home this weekend and see if I can get some body and chassis painting done. Will pick this back up on Monday.
That’s an awesome idea to achieve a textured look to the seats. Anxious to see how they turn out. That’s some impressive seam work on that Plymouth’s front clip too.
Thanks Mr. Tom, I am also eager to see what happens, . I brought the car home over the weekend for some painting. Primer color, chipping medium and body color. This was my first time using a chipping medium.
So today at lunch I got to scrubbing the body and adding some rust pigments. I think it turned out okay.
That was it for today, now I am back to work.
Did not have much to show yesterday, just painting some parts.
Today I worked on the front suspension, not quite done with it.
Hopefully will get the front end done tomorrow.
Today I got the front suspension completed and worked on the rear end as well.
Hopefully can finish up the rear end tomorrow. Plan on bringing the interior home to start painting. See you all tomorrow.
Got some work done on the DeSoto Firedome engine. This is turning out to be a really interesting engine, I need to research more about it.
Bringing the contents of the box for the Plymouth home for the weekend to get some stuff done that I can’t do at work. Mostly plan on getting the interior airbrushed and flattening tires. Back on Monday to see what happens.
Well, Monday comes around again and I got a little done again. Started working on wheels and tires. Asked around and found a video on how to flatten vinyl tires. So I tried it out and I think they came out okay.
And I have some replacement tires on some steelies that I will also use.
Of course, I still have to weather them.
So I have the wheels weathered and lightly attached to the car just to see what else it my need.
Do they look flat enough? Need more weathering?
Those tires look excellent!! The flatness is just right I think. The dust/dirt looks great too.
If you wanted to do more, maybe just a little tonal variation in the wheels’ dust/dirt, to pull it toward earth tones and away from the dominant rust color. But it’s looking great as-is.
Thanks, appreciate the critique. I will use some brown pigments tomorrow. See if that brings it more to the earthy tone.
Hmmm, did not get to post anything yesterday. Put some more earthy tones on the tires and a brown wash on the bottom of the car. I have the tires on and in place, but there is an issue:
The front tire is floating about 5 mm in the air. Was thinking that I would have to take the suspension apart and put it back together. Then I remembered that I was going to have a tire change going on. Thought I could use this, just put a jack under the body with a figure working on it. I dunno, happy accident, what do you all think?
I’d say go for it and put the jack under the front end. Your rust/weathering job on the Plymouth is amazing. It looks just like a “Barn Find”
Such a nice job on the details and weathering!
Thanks, think i will be working on the ford a little more next week.
So, I was able to get started on Ford’s chassis. Have the leaf springs and the muffler attached.
Also, over the weekend, I was able to paint the cab, hood, bed and tailgate. Only have a pic of the cab with the hood.
Still have some work to do on the bed.
