Well, get enough pounds of thrust on a light enough plane, you can hit any speed. (provided it doesn’t fall apart first) Must have been a pain to trim though,
Ok, that thing is riduculous. And dangerous as heck in the hands of an idiot. It don’t take very long to get beyond visual range at that speed.
And just how do they know it’l fly 400mph anyway?
That was soooo incredibly cool… I had a friend years back that wanted to build a Mach 1.5 RC plane. I don’t know if he ever did it or not though.

Another thing you should try, Park Zone foamies. I have an ultra micro P-51 and the thing can take soooooo much abuse. And it’s pretty much aerobatic. I also have a corsair, but with the 3-foot+ wingspan. Can hit around 40mph. Very easy to fly… just make sure you didn’t reverse the aileron throws before flying. (ask me how I know)
Maybe he had a radar gun to calculate the speed? Or he calculated it on his own, factoring the thrust. Really, you need an onboard camera to keep track of it…
Nice! I wonder if retractable skids would fit, Im not sure I would want the jet engine dragging on the ground. Thats if I had one. [:P] I see its elevated but draggin that thing on the ground…
I’ve been flying RC since the mid 80’s and the rc jets keep getting faster and more expensive. I find no enjoyment or relaxation flying an rc bullet. All it takes is a split second to loose visual on that. He got very close to the sun a couple of times, that alone will blind you and make you crash. The kid has great reflexes and eyesight. I think I’ll just stick to my 8 ft. wingspan Cub.
Bah! Speed is directionally proportional to the amount of fun you have… and also directly proportional to the amount of swears you utter when it crashes. Not out of ill-will, but it would be pretty neat to see that thing crash. My corsair made a baseball sized divot in the ground when it hit at 50mph. at 400…
But yeah, sometimes slow is best.
That’s as fast as a Bugatti Veyron at full tilt. makes you think.
I was waiting to see it hit those trees or the high tension power lines. Probably surprise some squirrel out of his nuts.
An accident waiting to happen. Just hope the guy doesn’t hurt or kill some innocent person on the ground with that thing.
