Anyone who has an extra $200 in their pocket can pick up a 1/32 scale Blue Angel Hornet. I guess that I am in my nick picky mood this evening, because I noticed the following “problems” with the kit.
- The paint job is awfully rough, poor quality.
- It has C model fins instead of the requisite A model
- It has the brackets for the slime lights, which are removed on BA aircraft,
- The engine exhausts have the turkey feathers darker than the mounting ring in front of them which is backwards.
- The leading edge slats are dropped. I think that the BA aircraft have these fixed in the up position.
Check out the large version of the photos and see what you think.

The seller says it’s a C in Angels colors, so of course it’s going to have C “fins” (I assume you mean rudders?)
Paint appears to be so-so, but so what. Buyer knew exactly what he was buying as the seller didn’t seem to lie or be misleading at all. Sounds legit enough to me. Nothing to see here.
I gotta say that I’ve never been interested in buying models already built -
Might be a trick of the lighting, but the blue looks a little light as well.
I wouldn’t buy something like this in a pink fit, but there’s lots of people out there who would buy the thing and love it forever. More power to them.
Well, some rich sucker had an extra $200US floating around. Bully for him, I say! [:p]
Cheers,
John
thats why god gave us collectors
It also gives you a way to thin out your collection, and give you more room on your shelves. I just sold this one today.

yours is far more impressive pix; just not quite the right rich guy. seems fair enough to sell them; I love collections; but modeling is all about the build. I simply dont have the time to keep the damn things dusted lol. why not recoup your costs and a bit more maybe :). you got your enjoyment; now let someone else.
$130 bucks for the kit, $20 bucks for the decals, and $25 bucks for the interior, plus paint and glue. Who knows if he had to pay shipping also. I think the guy that bought it for $200, probably got a pretty good deal.
Well, to be really “nick picky,” the phrase is actually “nit picky.” As in, to pick nits. Not nicks. Nits. “Nit picky.”
Now how’s that for being nit picky? [;)]
The build isn’t that bad. I’ve seen a lot worse for sale on eBay by “professional” modellers (hey, if you sell one model, you are technically “professional,” I suppose!).
As long as the model is honestly portrayed, I see no problem. I wouldn’t buy a built kit, but if the seller & buyer are happy with the deal, why should I care? Not the same as the crook who was posting pics of models for sale that were not his builds. That’s pure dishonesty.
Regards, Rick
I wasn’t insinuating any attempt at fraud or dishonesty when I posted this subject. I was just commenting on the less that stellar quality of the model for such a high selling price.
