After putting the IV with winterketten on hold I went into the dark and gloomy depths of my attic to rummage around in my stash (which is a lot less disgusting than it sounds) and tried to decide which dusty box would accompany me downstairs to my workbench. My eye fell on the Klement Voroshilov 2 “Booty panzer”. After a look around on internet I found a subject that I found rather interesting: the KV2’s that were adapted by the Germans and painted in yellow/brown camo for the planned invasion of Malta. Okay, this is the first peek (still looking rather gluey and leprous at the moment):
Barrel will be replaced with a metal part from Jerzy Bin’s JB models. Not sure yet if I will use the supplied tracks or splurge again on Friuls (they are addictive!)
Hi Mikael, its the Trumpy KV2, fit is quite good after the ISU [:)]
Bill, don’t tempt me [#toast] I know what I want (Friuls, Friuls Friuls) but mrs. Grem56 will have the dangley bits in a jamjar next to her bed if I keep buying Friuls ( oh, the name alone is sooooooooooooooooooooo sexy: Friuls…) [;)]
I have already bought three sets of Fiuls this month… Its like eating a MacGriddle- its the most amzing thing in the world, and then a half hour later, you wish you would die. Then you want another MacGriddle.
You never see enough of the ugly tank- Im sure yours will be amazing.
Yeah, the germans really planned that one out, (if i’m thinking of the right operation) they also had advice from japanese experts on amphibious warfare. I’m looking forward to see this one turn out it’ll be aa nice break from all those Russian green tanks.
Beltfed: 3 in a month? Great, I would love to but I also ordered some other goodies from Jerzy, that along with paint and a Tamiya sd.kfz. 233 I found hiding at the LHS have pushed my budget to the edge for now. Problem is though that once you go for the after market tracks the boxed articles seem rather c****y.
Steve: I wish you would build one, would be great to see what you do with it. I am still reeling from seeing what you made of the E-10 !
Bill: thank you ! kind of you as always. This is going to be different from the ISU due to the colours, still figuring which oils to use for the washes. I’ll work it out as I go along probably [%-)]
Falschimjager: It will be a cleaner build as the photos of the KV2 made ready for the proposed invasion of Malta are rather clean looking (which of course is logical after a clean up and new paint job)
Edmund: This forum is going to cause a World wide Friul shortage if we go on like this [:D] (I won’t mention the gel shortage created by your production line [swg]).
Heh, heh [:)] You are going to have to be patient here Bill, had a rather hectic weekend with a lot of phone calls from work to interupt things and of course my birthday yesterday (mind you I did get a numbered bottle of 30 year old Metaxa of which I have had a judicious taste). This week I am all over Holland so I don’t think I’ll be making much headway.
Hi Steve, wish it was 29, I’d have one heck of a second run [;)] No, glad I made 53 at least, leaky heart valve and all. Ready now for the next 53 [swg]
Looking great[#toast]! But I’m not sure about the name Beutepanzer because in the 2009 Great scale modeling showcase the beutepanzer was some kind of recovery vehicle[#offtopic]. Bah! nevermind that, get working on that beutiful beutepanzer!!
You’re confusing “Beute” with “Berge”. Bergepanzers are the specialized recovery vehicles while “Beute” refers to captured equipment (literally “booty”). [;)]
Total AMerican patriot: Thanks for dropping by, Bill has answered your question on "Beute"or “Berge” ("booty"or “Salvage”) and thank you Bill [tup]
Some progress made here: Barrel replaced by JB model barrel, engine grilles replaced by PE KV-1 set from “Der Sockelshop” nad crew grab handles / ladders replaced by, er, me [;)]. A few bits and pieces and then some accentuating of he turret welds, some mr. Surfacer for the cast texture etc. Paint still a couple of days away yet [#dots]:
Er, it’s going to be dark yellow and brown camo stripes Bill [:D] This little guy was supposed to go to Malta ( but eventually met a rather dismal end in Russia as I understand). Sorry no green [^]
