I recently built a simple website concerning the 30th BG, VIIth USAAF during WWII and thought I’d share it with ya’ll.
The site was inspired by our very own JRIDGE. He was kind enough to share with me some photos of his Uncle’s B-24, ‘The Chambermaid’, as well as several more photos of other 30th BG B-24s, and the site is dedicated to Jim and his Uncle Mel.
It’s a work in progress and there are still things to be added and tweaked. It’s also a freebie site at the moment and I regret to say that it has a banner ad and some pop-ups, so I hope that ya’ll have pop-up-killer software of some sort. Hopefully I can eventually get it transferred to another server…
I looked at the 30th BG site last night. I guess I don’t know what the banner page is supposed to look like? So, I can’t say if it’s working with IE or not?
Thanks for the credits… That was a shock. But, you are the one that deserves the credit! All this would be just a bunch of pictures on a hard drive without your support.
No banner using IE on my machine too. I’ll see if I get see it using AOL later tonight if I have time. Other than that the site is looking great so far. Thanks for your hard work.

Well, I went with a free hosting plan from 1HWY.com which provides templates. I had done a site a long time back with this outfit and although mostly satisfied with what they offered, I learned myself a bit of html and created something of a custom site based on their code, removing extraneous stuff when I recognized it as such.
That experience came in handy when I went to do this site. I pretty much stripped down one of their templates, kept what I liked and then added my own code, tweaking as I went . When I had a layout that worked, I kinda made my own templates and now make modifications as necessary. What you see is probably no more than a few nights worth of work, collectively. Nuthin’ fancy, but it’s sufficient.
There’s still some extraneous crap in there, no doubt, and I’ll eventually clean it up. I learned real quick that something which has no adverse effect while viewing with one web browser will cause a real mess on another! LOL Someday I’ll figure it all out…
