Note that what Steve zaloga has to say. No reason to believe that the paint labels match exactly the hues of the actual pigment inside.

Good point Roy. I often felt that Tamiya’s recommendation for RAL 6003 Olivgrun, Dark Green, as being a little off the mark. But colors can be judgemental for sure as there are so many thinning consistancies to be taken into account.

Always interesting to see these kinds of things get uncovered. The DY sample in particular is likely to stir the most interest. The points raised in the thread are valid however…a can lable does not equate to the actual color…but it does get you at least in the ball park. Interestingly enough, the colors aren’t all that far off from the colors seen on the three-tone StuG at either Ft. Knox or Aberdeen (can’t remember off the top of my head which museum).
