3 Birds with 1 Stone

I decided to start three kits at the same time. They’re all Luftwaffe, so I’ll be using the same paints till I get to the camo.

This is the 1/48 Hasegawa Ju 87G-2 Stuka with Eduard PE. The Eduard set for this kit is OUTSTANDING ! Its the best set of theirs that I’ve ever used.

On the left is a Shanghai Dragon FW 190A-8, also with an Eduard PE set. I’ll only use a couple of pieces from the PE set, its pretty disappointing.
On the right is a Trimaster Me 262A-1a, straight from the box. I’m used to the DML/Dragon releases of this kit. The Trimaster is so much more refined. I’m glad I stocked up on these while they were available. The wheelwells & gunbay are also finished & painted with Alcad, my first use of this paint. The Alcad went on great, over their primer. I LIKE ALCAD !

Good luck pix post lots of pics.

Hey Pix,
All I can say is WOW… Can you say that backwards WOW[:p][:p].
My dad will be starting the Hase Stuka soon and is kinda lookin around for after market parts.
Is this the newer aftermarket stuff from Eduard and is it easier to work with?? I remember some of there older items were kinda tricky or it could have been me at the time [banghead]. Is the instrument panel PE? and is the type you can put the instruments from behind on clear card?(I could be thinking of Aires)
BTW how is that Mistel kit by DML/Dragon. Is that kit an all new tooling or is that the old 262??
I really rreally want it but from past experience the fit(s) were not to enjoyable!!
Again great job my friend.
Flaps up, Mike

Outstanding. It’s the Pixilater production line and they all look great. I was wondering why the stocks of RLM 66 were depleted.

Thanks, modelkid, Butz, & Swanny !

Butz - the Eduard set for the G-2 is # 48 298. The metal is very easy to work. It has very small attachment points, easy to remove parts. The inst. panel is PE w/photo negative dials. I mounted it on sheet styrene for a stronger attachment.
The Mistel is the same tool, with PE. It is molded in a better plastic, though, and the “bomb” fuselage is new. The trolly is nice. Unfortunately, they did not include a ladder. I’ll have to see if I can make one.

Swanny - I only get my most-used colors 2 at a time. If I keep this up, I may have to switch to dozens !

I forgot to post pics of the gun bay & wheel wells. I just taped the fuselage to take these shots so you could see how nice the Alcad paint is on this bird.

good going pix! i was wondering what you were goig to pull out
of your sleeve next.didn’t know it would come in threes.
that alcad sure looks the business.

It sure does, I may have to do that when I get back into building 262’s again.

Excellent Pix. I am in awe of you guys. I’ll be happy if my Spit comes out looking half as good as you and Swanny make yours. I can’t wait to see what kind of digital dios they go into.

Looks very impressive, Pix…!

Niiiiiice!

Excellent, excellent work, Pix!! Look’s like Adolf just crawled out of that 262 cockpit! Thanks, fantastic work, as always!

Hope you had a nice Christmas, my friend!
Frank

Thanks, obiwan, Swanny, Madda, dj, J-Hulk & Frank ! Looks like I’ll have to start my own union to keep the “production line” moving !

Madda : the Ju 87 is going to be marked as Rudel’s machine, with the under-wing cannon. It will probably lend itself well to a digital dio.

Frank : you meant A. Galland, I hope, and not Mr. H. ! (although I could see doing an A.H. Kamikaze, but it would have to miss its target !)

pix hi and season’s greetings!![:)][:)][:)]
all i can say is that you are a machine!! or should that be entire production line?! [(-D][(-D][(-D]
if albert speer was half as proloific as you, there’d have been 10,000 me262’s by mid-'44, and we’d all be deutsch sprechen by now!![:0]
seriously, i’m really keen to see how the builds go, as i have the same stuka and 190a-8…
i don’t usually do aircraft PE, but after your review of the eduard stuka set, i think i’ll try to sneak some past she who must be obeyed!![B)][B)][:p]
regarding the markings, i have superscale’s rudel set for this kit, listing it as “the aircraft rudel surrendered in…,” - here’s the link -

http://www.hannants.co.uk/cgi-bin/search.pl?Mode=view&Database=barg&R=SS48719

…and i was wondering whether therefore, it would have had the 37mm cannon underneath the wings? any ideas?

incidentally i see from hannats that cutting edge do a 190 (a-6 i think) that rudel flew…i never even knew he flew them!!

re the fw, which markings is your bird getting? i thought the josef priller (sorry if name is wrong…digging the kit out of “the hangar” is a pain![:p]) d-day markings are quite good…what do you think?

hope the builds - yes, all of them! - go well; can’t wait for more pics (pix?[:p])…

regards,
nick

Thanks, nick ! I think you’ve been reading my mind. The 190 will be in “Pips” Priller’s markings on D-Day.
The Stuka PE contains the actuators (?) for the flaps, perforated barrels for the cannon, oil coolers, radiators, over 100 parts in all. WONDERFUL set. Got mine from Squadron for about $18.
Here’s a link to a Rudel site, with color pics & profiles (it was a 190D he flew), decorations, etc. Its not in English, though. Somewhere I have a pic of his crashed '87.

Good luck on your kits !

pix hi again,
just a quick question about those barrels in that PE set: are they complete barrels like, say, we use over on the “dark side”[}:)][:p], which completely replace the plastic ones provided? and are they “solid”, or does it require lots of folding and manipulation to get them looking just so…'cos i’m not very good at that!![V]
many thanks once again,
nick
ps took a look at the rudel link you gave…made google translate it with hilarious results!!![(-D]

Hey Pixi;
I’d wouldn’t expect any less from you, you alway have impressed me with your work so Not to put you down, but your discussting and I’m Jealous

Thanks, Mrs Dj & cuda.

nmayhew - the “cone” & “tube” shape right behind it are perferrated sheet, which is rolled to make the replacement parts. You still use the main barrel, and only replace the end. Gun handles, gunsights, handholds & inner bracings on the inner surface of the canopy are also provided. I think I’ll finish this one in winter camo, after painting the usual splinter scheme first. I can’t wait to finish the Stuka ! (although it will be more work than the others - I enjoy the work - I get bored with “fall-together” kits)

hey pix,
i saw rudel’s winter camo stuka on that link you posted…it did look v cool i must admit[8D][8D][8D]!! what w/nr etc will you use, or will it be just the same as the ones provided in the kit?
gotta go now…have decals drowning…finally trying to finish my 109 from the group build!![:0]

Excellent work, Pix. What a way to start the new year. I love the way you painted the interior. Great attention to detail. Keep the pics coming!
