Ive been doing some research on the 2nd SS Pz Division. But the one thing I havent been able to find is info on tigers. Did the 2nd SS have tigers around June 25th 1944? All I have read so far says they had lots of panthers and Pz IV’s.
So, did they have tigers in june 1944?
I don"t think so. By this time I believe “Das Reich’s” Tigers and crews were already
assigned to s.Pz.Abt. SS 102. (later renamed “502”) I’m sure Peridexion will have the
correct answer
This site http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/books/wwii/100-13/st-lo_1.htm says, near the bottom that the 2nd SS was in the area of St. Lo during tha battle. I have no idea right now if they ahd tigers or not, but it is the same division that you ahs originaly want to use. Hope this helps a little.
It’s funny, because I have been researching the EXACT same thing. I pre-ordered Tigers in Combat II hoping to get some answers, but it doesn’t come out in paperback until March. The first one came in the mail the other day (thanks everyone for the help getting it btw) and I think I finally found a few things in there that I would like to do, but I would really like to do a St Lo dio sometime.
hey guys, ive come accross a picture or a das reich tiger in normany in steel rain waffen ss battles in the west on page 30
but the book lists only 101st and 102nd battalions havin tigers in normany
1st june 101st 102nd
37 28
1july 11 14
18 july 6 19
