Really pleased with the color match and the way the decals came out. I made decal templates from manila folder material, used the templates to trace onto the white painted body the outline of the hood and both side front & rear decals. Then layed the templates over a strip of masking tape, traced the outline on the tape and then cut the masking tape on the traced lines. Then I matched the hood cut masking tape template to the traced line and layed it down. Same procedure for the sides. Masked the body off and shot it.
Duplicolor auto white primer, Tamiya ts-26 pure white lacquer and Boyd’s Sunburst enamel. Added the post race details around the wheel wells and nose as well as a few Slixx goodies sheet tire rub decals to match the left side pic of the car on track. Next up is the same scheme, but the #29 B Labonte ESGR Army that ran at the Texas Spring Busch race.

First thing is wipe the outside, the side with the raised lettering, with lacquer thinner. Then sand the part of the tire that hits the ground for realistic effect. On the 2006-07 kit wheels there are two raised ridges on the wheel, I take snips and cut the narrow raised ridge to help the hollow tire fit the wheel better. install the tires to the wheels. I take the Goodyear #1 and Eagle decals and apply them to the tire along with the decals, apply the Aero wheel decals to the wheels. Now take a silver, or white, lead pencil and dip the lead into water, shake off the excess water and rub the side of the lead lightly, LIGHTLY, on the raised “Radial” lettering and the “tire size” lettering, as well as highlight the raised oval and numbers. Let these items dry and then I take a red, green or blue DecoColor by Marvy/Uchida paint marker and make the dots and swipe a line thru the oval and raised numbers. The last thing is put a dime on each wheel and spray the exposed tire with Testors #1260 flat clear lacquer. Also, I use Solvaset on the Aero, Goodyear #1, Eagle and LR-1 RR-1, LF-1 & RF-1 decals prior to spraying the tire with the flat clear. This helps melt the decal into the tire prior to flat clearing them.
