Test assembled major structural subassemblies today. Held together by blue tack, so there are some gaps.

Now to get to work on all the accessories (actually, still a bit of work to do on that lower gear cover).

This is a stand alone engine- I will display it on a stand like it is in a museum. It is 1:6 scale. I had previously done the midget (110 ci.) engine in 1:4 scale. But I had done a whole set of scale drawings of vintage oval, and my ground rules were the drawings should always fit on 8.5 x 11 sheets. So the 270 is 1:6.
Crankcase, block and cam towers are basswood, side closure panels with cooling fins are styrene (fins are styrene too. Fuel injector is styrene.

DON , Oh my! I thought that you said an OFFY 270 ! I now know you meant a model . I understand it,s not finished , but , What a nice looking start ! I once built a G.M.C. 671 Inline six with blower . I got bit by the darned thing after rebuilding one in a reconditioned LCM 6 . That model was a lot of work , but , what a lot of comments I got . The other engine I built was the type used by railroad engines nowadays . The 671 and it were in 1/48 scale. This is my favorite scale for scratchbuilding. The railroad engine was inspired by a presentation engine model that was given to an engineer for MISSOURI PACIFIC along with his gold watch . His widow gave the engine to me because she knew I appreciated things like this . I laud your talent and please let us see more ? tankerbuilder
