I’ve never built a tank before, but I sure am in…how about it guys…there’s no A/C you could effectively build in 24 hours is there? Why don’t you get in on the action too, and show these guys who can really build!!! Rules are simple enough…24 hours…no aftermarket parts…1/72 Tiger…no excuses!!! We’ll be posting photos at the end of the window of everyone’s build. This one should be fun! Don’t be shy, hop right in!!!
I think it started in a thread by ArmorMaster, I don’t recall the subject of the thread.
But I said something like " why don’t we make a Group-call-in-sick-to-stay-home-and-model-day "
Well ausf picked it up and got the idea for this 24 hour build. Its him who have gotten things organized and its him who should be credited for this. http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19321 Here is the link to the thread…come on over and join THE DARK SIDE [}:)] Bwahahahaha.
I am in no way trying to take credit for the idea at all Monrad, just was trying to drum up some participation. As it looks Richard, the date is August 8th. Some people will be in Phoenix at the time, and will not be able to participate. I thought that we would be able to set up a date the week before for those people (myself included), but some people complained…if you want to do it, go for it…you can probably pick up the kit at www.squadron.com and it should be around $10.00 I know nothing of tanks myself, so you may have to ask the armor guys to direct you towards the best kit.
The recommended kit for this is the Revell Tiger but it does have the link and length tracks. Hasagawa and Fujimi also make Tigers that are OK (Fujimi’s is 1/76).
I am one of the ones that will be returning from Phoenix but should be back by 3pm so gives me several hours to build.
We had a similar contest in our club in Montana (many moons ago) but we only allowed 90 minutes to build. Did the Revell 1/32 Huey Cobra one year. Spray can OD (including the pilots) and no super glue. Did take 1st that year.
There are some easy Aircraft kits that we could also do in that timeframe. Testors just rereleased several old HAWK models in their Easybuilder series. Simple kits, no cockpit interior, no landing gear, just put them in flight on the stand. Have a Spitfire 22, Zero, Dauntless and a Me-109. How about it… do our own 24 hour marathon on Aug 15th?
I’ve just bought Academy’s WWII ground vehicle set, and managed to build most of the Kubelwagen & Kettenkrad in 24 hours, so maybe this is another one to consider. That was while looking after the 3 kids, while my wife was away. So with full attention, 24 hours should be plenty of time.
Also Revell’s 1/72 Fw 190 kit includes a single colour option, in RLM 76 or 75 I can’t remember which. It’s a great little kit and very easy to build, so quite do’able in 24 hours.
Kik36 Are you sure theres no aircraft? Im betting a Revelgram P-51with SnJ could be done in 24 hours staight out of box build. Heck I might even test that in a week or 2 (model plate is very full atm).
Sorry kik36, I didn’t think your were taking the credit for this.
I just wantad to point out that ausf has put alot of work into this.
Thanks for your support kik36.
