Go for it Duke!
me too brother. just went into the aeroplane stash in the garage and founf a Pfalz, and 4 DR-1s and a VII is lurking somewhere.
may be time to do a plane or two given i am cutrrently working on a 1/6 nine cylinder rotary engine. things should settle down to a routine after vacation.
when is the SLC show? might be worth a trip depending on the dates as i start classes on the 19th and will be teaching/facillitating a five 2 hour class peroids on the siege of Leningrad for none grognards.
Nice looking Camel Sim !
… and great idea doing the strut rigging before assembly - that idea never came to mind on my last biplane build - DOH !
Duke . . . Head first man ! The water’s fine !
Steve - I’m bracing myself for having my socks blown off with the water landing dio - and paying attention . . . looks like something I’d like to try.
Chris
CHRIS looking good on the Spitfire.
i did something similar with decals on an ME-163 a while back. misaligned one of the upper wing crosses and they were old decals to.
MC Mariner is looking good. i am doing more bases for my builds. going thru the stash i though i had an OTS B-52 but it’s 1/100. i did pick up the ICM 3 axle German staff car, same as the one from them in 1/35. and ModelCollect has an OTS HEMMT Pershing II and a T-14 plus a bunch of russian MAZ wheels.
I got the wings and tail on and this is what it’s going to look like in it’s base.
Lookng great MC!! I want one of those if I can come up with the cash, or the old Hase Shin-Meiwa PS-1. something about floaters that grabs ya.
Thanks Duke and Bossman[:)] Put a coat of future on a bit ago, will have to go over it again to get the right sheen for the decals.
Wayne, I want to add another to the roster. OTS Italeri SM.81 Pipistrello. Broke sprue last night and attached the office bulkhead to the floor and sprayed the interior green just now as well. letting them cure for a bit then will start actually putting the office together. Color is Mr. Hobby H312 which according to the label is FS34227. Matches the color in the destructions so there it is lol. Going for the mind blowing camo of one stationed in Libya. Well here’s the proverbials.[t$t]
Man, I’ve been trying to get those forever, but evreyone is always out of stock! Yet, I see so many people working on them, what’s the deal? Man, I just cannot catch a break!
Modelcrazy, that Mariner is looking really good right now. I like it.
As for the WWI planes guys, I appreciate the encouragement. I just cleaned out my Hobby Room some and found far more Shelf Queens than I thought I had. I’m going to get as many of them done as I can just so I can clear a lot of boxes and debris away. Then maybe I’ll dive in.
However, Simpilot, I have both the Mariner and the Shinmeiwa PS-1; I might instead start both of those to join my Be-6 Madge on the ceiling when things clear up.
Simpilot, that Pipistrello will be looking good! Well done on camo choice; I hope to see that one done!
I’ll keep you guys posted.
Cool, there’s something about Italian AC I really like.
Thanks Duke and MC!! Yeah I’m looking forward to getting to the paint stages myself, I know what I’m up against, but looking forward to seeing the work come together, and it will be work. I’ve been hanging to do an Italian camo! Wanted to do an Mc.202 or 205 with smokerings, but unfortunately they are still MIA after my move. Anyways here’s a few pics of the work from last night. Enjoy[t$t]
Finished up the office and ready for installation, after I paint the underside of the floor, as there is a decent sized upside down canopy just aft of the front engine. Poor bombadier’s head would be ringing sitting there LOL.
Washed the innards with Citidel Nuln Oil to make an otherwise monochrome interior pop a little, might be a bit stark in a few places but most of it won’t be seen, and in doing the wash, the prolific large ejector marks also popped out , as I said… most of it won’'t be seen, so, good enough lol
Getting back to it and getting the radio rack decals on, operator’s seat next to it and maybe start putting the side window acetates (yes, acetates)[cnsod] in. Why yhey didn’'t mold them in with the rest of the clear stuff is beyond me.
This is so cool, I’m going to enjoy watching this one.
I also have a MC-202 with a PE flap set I am looking forward to getting to. It will be done in the “fried egg” camo. It’s a 1/48 so I won’t be doing it here.
Wow Steve and Sim - my Spitty is looking pretty tiny compared to those super-sized birds.
Both the Mariner and the Pip are looking fine so far. Looking forward to seeing how you do the squiggle scheme on that one Sim. Very nice interior detail work.
I finished the Spitfire Mk. V on Wednesday night, But I need do do some picture editing before I post the completed glamour shots, but they will be up in the next day at the latest.
What next ? . . . Well, in my rather spastic build world I’ve got quite a few kits at a lot of different points in the process. Most of them started in 2015. The A6 has been a shelf queen for at least 2 years. Time to finish some of these off. . .
. . . a nearly completed Harrier GR 1, a P-47 bubble top and a razorback, A P40-E and -N, a Swordfish with a kit-provided folded starboard wing, and an A6 Prowler with an attempt at a scratchbuilt folded starboard wing. I’ll have to give this some thought. . . . and then there’s this unstarted kit in my stash . . . .
Complete them all this year ? No way ! But this GB has motivated me to progress in the right direction. Thanks to all ! Keep up the good work !
Chris
LOL Chris, my unfinished builds aren’t that many, I just have 4 at the moment.
Some more work on the base. I sanded the gel with 150 grit to knock down the peaks. This also allows me to see how the waves are coming.
Next I added a second coat of gel.
The build is coming right along. The only thing left are the gun turrets, then the painting starts.
Really nice work Man.
Chris
MC Thanks mate! I’m excited as well! This isn’t a bad kit at all! I really am looking forward to the painting. Look forward to seeing your Mc.202 at some point. The work you are doing on that base is making me sea[+o(] lol. That’s awesome!!
Bossman Thank you! You have quite a little stable there! Looking forward to seeing some of them complete!! Like MC, my incompletes aren’t that many but I think i’m pushing it lol.
Ok, I stand corrected about my misgivings of the little round acetate side windows, they actually are a little gem!! I held the fuse halves together for a quick trial fit and you could actually see through them with absolutely no distortion, how many kit transparencies can claim that?! Glued them in with some Pacer Formula ‘560’ canopy glue.
The office and rear floor are installed and the radio rack decals on with operator seat.
…and got the gloss on the Camel. Going to decal soon once it cures for a day or two.
Might end up throwing this one in the lot as well. Kawanishi E7K1 I started about 2 1/2 years ago.
I’m really interested in the subjects being built on here at the moment. I’ve never seen those SM81 and Mariner kits built before, so I’m really enjoying them. I love submarines, so the U Boat is a great topic for me too.
Here is an update on my Hunter GA11 conversion. After much rescribing, and even more distractions to other models, I’ve finally got the primer coat completed to my satisfaction.
I’ll spray the underside gloss white tomorrow, weather permitting.
Cheers
Tony
My model club had a build day today, so I spent 5 hours building. I think it’s known as Spitfire Fever. I started three 1/72 Spitfires during the day. In my enthusiam I omitted to take commencement photos.
One was an Academy Spitfire XIV, and two more Airfix Spitfire XIXs.
One of these Spitfire XIXs will be finished in Thai colors, and I think the other will be in BBMF colors.
Cheers
Tony
Tony your projects are coming along nicely!!! Weather permitting? LOL you must live around Melbourne too! Going to the Model Expo?
