A Dodge Charger with 4 doors? I’m sorry but that is just wrong! Does it come with a built in handicaped sticker?
It just begs for a kit bash into a 2dr hard top, some Rallye wheeles and a stripe.

I hate to brag, but, my company is providing me with a brand new 2006 Dodge Charger (exactly like the one shown on the box art in the picture; same color, same wheels, etc.), and I get it right at Christmas time!!! FREE OF CHARGE! Ain’t that a helluva Christmas present!
I used to say the same thing, though, concerning the car: four doors on a Charger??? It just ain’t right. But, after taking one with a Hemi for a test drive a few months back, I’m kinda changing my mind about it. They do ride nice…and more power than you know what to do with. I want the SRT-8 so badly that I can taste it.

Well, I picked it up today (28 Dec 2005), and it’s nice!!! [8D]Unfortunately, we are only allowed to have the 2.7L V-6 in it (which I didn’t even know you could get in a Charger; the base engine is supposed to be the 3.5L High Output V-6, but, when it’s a fleet lease vehicle, the regular consumer options do not apply), which is slightly anemic as far as power goes. Other than that, it’s a nice ride. Very smooth; can’t even feel the engine idling. It’s got a lot of the little niceties, like power door locks, power windows, power seats, power mirrors, etc. And it looks just like the one on the box above.
Any idea as to when a model of it will be released?

Chrysler has sure made the most of their hemi brand.
Chrysler’s hemispherical combustion chamber creates better thermal and volumetric efficiency. The valves are located across from each other, not side-by-side, to allow better air flow of the intake and exhaust gases.
I still think that technology is rather dated with compared to double overhead cams and 4 valves per cylinder technology now seen in many other engines.
What do you guys think?
fact is chrysler’s hemi may be over 40 yrs old but…
you have it backwards ohc in european cars have been around longer than the chrysler hemi
The internal cumbustion engine is 19th century technology. The problem is that alternatives are far to expensive for mass production. Chrysler tried the turbine engine in 1963 and had heat problems and problems getting a transmission to take the power. Again, the main problem was cost. They could have made it work but who would buy it for the price of five Cadilacs? Until an alternative can be mass produced at a reasonable cost we are stuck with this 100+ year old technology.
On a personal note I would love to have a turbine engine with an afterburner for those times when some idiot want to follow to closely or pulls right up on my bumper at a light. Imagine lighting the afterburner and melting his front bumper and grill! As tim Allen woulf say, “more power”!

The Hemi Charger is popping up all over the place as police cars and they look great in “stealth” black or as Black and Whites. Uh, except when they are in your rear view mirror!!
